Show west In VALLEY VIEW Thursday, May rv 19, 1983 Wake Of Zoning Proposal Master Plan MAGNA. A decision to be made Tuesday by the County Planning Commission will determine what type of development will be allowed in the future in the area between 7200 West on the south side of 2400 South. The applicant, Justin Chad White, proposes to develop lots, each being s of an acre to one acre in size, for industrial uses within the M-guide lines on 30 acres of property at 7600 West on 2400 South. Last week White told the Planning Commission that he intends to sell the lots to 30 different industrial concerns to use as they see fit. However, the Magna Community Council and local residents in that area took issue with the proposed zoning and asked change (from A-- l to M-the Planning Commission to deny the application. Speaking for the council, LaRee As a Pehrson, president, said, council we contend that such zoning is not compatible with the surroun- three-fourth- 2 Arcadia PTA Plans A Community Picnic TAYLORSVILLE. The Arcadia elementary PTA will sponsor a community picnic from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Taylorsville park. Participants are being invited to bring their own lunches. We hope all our families and neighbors and friends will come out and have a good time, a PTA spokesman said. Drafting Contest Calling Students GRANGER. The annual high school architectural drafting contest and exhibit will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Valley Fair Mall. Exhibited will be working drawings of house plans which have been completed sufficiently to obtain a building permit. The entries will come from high school students from throughout the state. Sponsoring the contest and exhibit is Rick Kinetader of Orem who will give a colored rendering to the first-plac- e student. In addition, the first, second, third and fourth place students will be awarded drafting tools, according to Ralph Thacker, chairman of the event. He is a drafting instructor at Cyprus high. Area high schools in the Salt Lake valley are being given an invitation to participate in the contest and exhibit, he said. Council's Goal Is ding area, which includes a twin home subdivision approximately one half mile to the east and n a rapidly developing home subdivision less than one-hamile to the west. In addition, she pointed out that there are two homes in close proxsite and the Lake imity to the Ridge subdivision lies directly to the south. Also, with the exception of one small parcel of land to the west that is zoned M-- l, there is no M-- zoning in the area south of 2400 South between 7200 and 9200 West. The council believes that 2400 South should be used as a buffer zone, with all M-- zoning being confined north of that boundary, Mrs. Pehrson said. We are desirous of having planned orderly development in this area that will enhance the entrance to our community rather than detract. We believe that we already have an it 270-twi- lf 2 2 of M-- 2 zoning. She went on to say that while the council is aware there are some acceptable installations among the permitted uses under M-they are also aware there are a great many that are less than desirable. With a conditional use permit, there are those that are totally unacceptable Bond Resolution For Hospital Gains Okay WEST VALLEY. The City Council Thursday endorsed a resolution stating its intent to issue an industrial development revenue bond for construction at Valley West hospital. The hospitals parent company, Hospital Corporation of America, is seeking a $1 million, IRB to help pay for construction of y structure. The the new status will reduce the interest rate on that amount from 11.5 to 9.5 percent, an HCA official said. He placed the total cost of building the new facility at $19 million. five-stor- tax-exem- pt for this particular site, she contended. Also she said that if the property in question is divided into one acre lots, there would be 30 different ideas of what should be located there, and once the zoning is approved the developers would not have to go back before the planning commission unless they wanted a conditional use permit. This particular proposal has already been denied by a previous board, Mrs. Pehrson said, and the situation that existed then still exists today. So for this and the above mentioned reasons, we are requesting that this application be denied and that the County Planning and Zoning staff meet with us at our next regular meeting on June 2 to discuss formulating a master plan to avoid further confrontation.
