Show WEST VALLEY VIEW Thursday, May 19, 1983 Conservancy District In Commission Seeks Nominees For Post SALT LAKE. Nominations are bedirectoring sought for a three-yea- r ship on the County Water Conservancy District by the County Com- mission. David Ovard, assistant to the districts general manager, said a term held by James West, 4115 So. 300 East, will expire May 20. West, who has been a director of Division 8 the past 32 years, has requested he be considered for another term on the board. Division 8 includes parts of Granite Park, South Salt Lake, Murray, Holladay, South Cottonwood, Willow Creek and Union. In an effort to obtain two more nominations for the directorship which pays $1,000 a year, the County Commission has asked for recommendations from the Salt Lake County Assn, of Community Councils. Nominees should reside within Division 8, be willing to serve about 10 hours a month, including one board meeting and various committee meetings as required. The board meets on the third Thursday of the month in the district office, 3495 So. 300 West. The association was scheduled to make suggestions at a meeting yesterday (Wednesday). Community Councils which represent sections of Division 8 include East Midvale-For- t Union, Little Cottonwood Creek, Millcreek and Bonneville (or Cottonwood West). There currently are 10 directors who attend monthly meetings to review the affairs of the district, give direction and set policy, according to Ovard. Another Green Sheet area directorship expiring May 20 is in Division 1 an area contiguous with the boundaries of West Valley City Estel Wright, has served as director the past 32 years. Nominees submitted for the position by West Valley City include Mayor Jerry Maloney and City Manager John Newman. In areas which do not encompass an entire city, the County Commission has authority to submit at least three names to the governor who will select one and seek confirmation from the Utah Senate for that appointment. - Utech Students Capture Honor TAYLORSVILLE.
