Road crews rescued them. The highway department set up barricades at Duchesne and Helper, but some large tractortrailer rigs that had bypassed the barricades jackknifed and blocked the road. The snowstorm caused many accidents, he added, but there wereno localfatalities or major injuries. Park City, a ski resort town which has been hoping for snow. got morethan it asked for Thursday when the storm left the communityvirtually snowbound. Snow piled up so deep that the ski resort was forced to closeits slopes, and it was almost impossible for vehicles to negotiate the mountain town's streets. The heavy snow halted the city’s buses and mail service. Snow was 18 inches deep in the parts of the town where the snow was the lightest, and one resident. Ron Burnett, had five feet of snow in his driveway. In this area, according to Springville Junior High School Weather Station, the chances of snow will be 50 percent Saturday with highs in the low 30s and lows in the mid 20s. This morning at 5:50 it was cloudy and cold, temperature was 20 degrees, humidity was 79 percent and the barometer was steady at 30.16 inches. Thursday's high in Springville was 46 degrees and overnight low was18 degrees. Precipitation measured .85 of an inch.
