ORDER withdrawing COAL LANDS FROM ENTRY it has been decided by the president to make an important modification of the order issued july last withdrawing from enday over 60 acres of land in the western states containing depos its of coal the modified order will ex capt from the provisions of the original order such entries and declaratory coal filings as were made prior to the date of the order of withdrawal and will liberate many hundreds of entries made in good faith which have been suspend ed issuance of the modified order has been urged by western members of congress who believe that the pro i dent s older was too radical and in fact made without full anthonty auth onty of law after presenting their view of bifi case to the president ert at his t on they have held conferences with j director ot wolcott of the geological sur vey commissioner richards of the gen eral land office and incoming secretary of the interior garfield Garfi eid with the result that the president will at once issue the order liberating entries mada prior to the nuance of the order of withdraw
