Harms Receives Presidential Award Recipes For The CLEARFIELD Home Gardener By LUCILLE STRINGHAM In the next week or two the peas in your garden should be ready to pick. They are at their best when cooked immediately upon picking and shelling. Cook only 7 minutes in about one-hainch of water in a kettle with a tight fitting lid. Do not overcook. green onions crosswise into thin slices and add to peas. Cook one minute longer. There will only be a little liquid left. Add butter and season to taste. Serves four. Cook noodles in another kettle until tender. Drain. Add sour cream and cheese to noodles and toss lightly. Add peas to noodle mixture and toss lightly. Sprinkle with pepper and additional cheese. PEAS WITH ONION AND MUSHROOM RHUBARB CAKE WITH 5-- lf TO PREPARE for freezing shell. Wash and blanch in boiling water for one minute. Cool imder running cold water and drain. Package for the freezer. Two cups of shelled peas are sufficient for four servings. The Chamber also desires to promote an understanding of the American free enterprise system in high First Annual Layton Chamber of Commerce Scholarship of $500 was awarded to Susan Ames, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Thomas, Layton. This is the first time a Chamber of Commerce in Davis County has offered a college scholarship to an outstanding business student. SUSAN, A graduate of Laytons High School, hopes to attend Weber State College and major in Business Management. The criteria set up for this scholarship included: 1. a student who excelled in business classes while in high school. 2. A student who intended to follow up their high school education with training in a business-relate- d Hersh Ipaktchian, Layton Chamber of Commerce President, says, The Chamber is concerned that the Free Enterprise system is the back bone of our country yet few people understand how it works. Mr. Ipaktchan says a survey made by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce last year showed 67 percent of high school and coliege students polled believed businesses should not make profits. SUSAN AMES had a 3.2 grade point average in high school and excelled in the business department there.
