Halloween Safety was the subject of their assembly program. They taught This has been an exciting Red Ribbon Week, with many activities and assemblies for the stu- dents. Tuesday morning, Chad Moore brought the dogs that are trained for drug detection purposes. In the assembly, there w ere demonstrations of the skills the dogs have been taught and drug awareness messages were also given. On Tuesday afternoon the Manti Ambulance Crew brought the ambulance and gave the students a tour of it. Their message the children safety tips and they gave each student a safety bag to use for Halloween. The Dare Parent Meeting on Friday, October 24th was well attended. Officer Kevin Holman, the Dare Officer, talked about how to recognize drug problems and how to get help from the sources available. Thursday everyone is invited to wear red to school as a reminder to all to Say No To Drugs. Halloween is Friday. The children w ill be dismissed from school at :30 to go home and get ready for the parade. They may eat lunch at home if they want to. The students should return to school at 12:50, the parade will.start in the classrooms at and will be headed down Main Street at about 1:30 p m. Come and watch the parade! 1 1 1 The students will return to their classes after the costume parade to have fun at the parties that their room mothers have organized and prepared for them. School will let out at the regular time. Many other prizes and awards were earned by students who met their goals to raise money for the PTA. President Gunderson stated that they were very successful, raising easily twice the amount raised last year. The funds will be donated to the school for needed projects. Samuelsen will speak on Ibsens An Enemy of the People: A Study in Subversion in the Activity Center at Snow College at 12:30 p.m. The entire college community is invited, as is the general public. Samuelsen, an Ibsen specialist, will provide background and insight into An Enemy of the People, a play assigned to all members of the Snow College Learning Community. The play dramatizes the interplay among idealism, practicality, and the media, voices which compete in almost any political decision. Ibsens play was first produced more than 100 jears ago, yet parallel conflicts appear frequently in the news.
