I have one more favorite recipe that I would like to share with you. I call it "Aunt Kates Cheese Cake. Yes, she really is my aunt and she cooked in a restaurant for many years. This was one of the few recipes that she actually had a recipe for (I never did get the one for chili). I have tried other cheese cake recipes but always come back to this one. It calls for: one eight-ounc- e package of cream cheese, one cup white sugar, one box lemon jello, one cup hot water, one package dream whip whipped, one graham cracker pie crust mixture. Cream the cream cheese and cup of sugar and set aside. Prepare the lemon jello according to the directions on the box, let cool, then beat. Prepare the dream whip. Line the bottom of a square glass baking dish with the pie crust recipe (save a little to sprinkle on the top of the cheese cake when it is completed. Bake the graham cracker crust. When it is' cool, fill with the combined whipped jello and cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle the rest of the graham cracker mixture on the top and put in the refrigerator to set. In the event I missed explaining that you mix the cream cheese mixture with the sugar, cream cheese mixture and the whipped dream whip, combine all three, folding in carefully so as not to break down the whipped cream. This makes a nice high, simply delicious cheesecake. Some people like to put prepared cheery pie filling on the top, but I find that the taste of the original recipe is very good just the way it is. The other is very rich (and good if you like to add something extra special). If any of you are fortunate enough to hqve some cash left after the Christmas spending spree, now is the time to take advantage of it. Yes, you guessed it, the annual January sales are in full swing. I try to wait for these white sales to replenish my linen closet. After the swimming, camping and just plain shower taking during the summer, some of my towels and sheets look as though they have been through a war, and Im lucky if we can keep from putting our toes through some of the sheets until the spring sales come up. But the buys are so great that if it is possible at all, I have even resorted to patching to tide us over. This year I think I will hide some towels and sheets and surprise everyone with whole sheets and towels even before the spring sales. Seriously, plan to spend a few days searching for the best buys. Most stores sales and a are having good shopper can find most of the items she will need for the year at reasonable prices. Now is a good time to buy winter clothes too. When buying childrens clothes remember how much they grow in just a years time and make allowances for this. Dont buy the first things you see. Comparison shop for these items just as you do for food. Make lists of what you need and stick to them. Spend one shopping trip just looking; dont buy anything that first day. Give yourself time to think about what prices are and whether you really need the item or just thought it was pretty. If it just lays on the shelf or in the drawer and is not used, it is not a bargain no matter what the price. WTien you have decided just v. hat you need and can afford, then take your list and plan your shopping trip. You will feel much better about it and not waste all the money you saved by buying items that you really didnt need. It takes time to make real savings and impulse buying can wipe out all your good intentions in one afternoon. Read the newspaper ads carefully. Compare prices wherever possible. This will give you a good idea whether an item is a real bargain or not. Keep couponing and refunding and look for food items that are in plentiful supply. These will be some of your best buys in groceries. Try to plan your meals using some of them whenever possible. Your family might welcome a slight change in menu and it will give you a good reason to try a couple of those different recipes that you have been wanting to experiment with.
