Kaysvilles City Council closed the issue under the recommendation of City Manager John Thacker. Thacker told the council at a meeting last week that there had been no more accumulation of gasoline under the streets since it was discovered. He suggested that the holes be closed up and traffic patterns be returned to normal. Put that project to bed, he said. A gasoline-lik- e liquid had been discovered under the street by Mountain Bell Telephone Company employees while they were working on conduits under the street. City officials reacted to the discovery on Aug. 18 by flushing the conduits, and pumping about 400 gallons of gas and water from the ?AYOK(T. GET ACQUAINTED SPECIAL COUPON Later .the city dug several Bar-bertso- trenches and test holes in hopes of discovering the sources and extent of the leak. RBs gas stations also dug several holes. RBs closed the holes Sept. 6. City officials will still, be able to monitor the situation under the street by using a manhole and a telephone vault, Thacker said. No problem is expected to develop, he said. The gasoline bomb under the street was an expensive endeavor for Kaysville City. Officials are not going to be able to share the cost of the project with anyone else the cause of the gas leak is still unknown. Lakeside Review photographer, Dan Miller, took Best of Show award in the professional press division of storytelling at the Utah State Fair. Miller said he was concerned about the show, I know it was a good piece and I know it was done well but there was nothing to compare it with. His concern was created by the boycott of the state fair by the photographers of the four major newspapers in the state. L.V. McNeely, director of the photo display at the fair, said the Salt Lake Tribune, the Deseret News, the Ogden Standard Examiner and the Provo Herald were the newspapers that boycotted.
