Show 4B Layton GOP Women Form Organization Sunset Women's Group Names Slate of Officers Lakeside Review, Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1981 SUNSET LAYTON The Layton Republican Womens Organization held its charter meeting recently and elected officers. The club is an affiliated branch club of the Federation of Republican Women. Elected president was Dorthy Paine, 1193 N. 1300 E., and Kathy Smoot, 1293 E. 1275 N., was elected Cynthia Stevens, 1386 N. 350 W., was installed as president of the newly formed Sunset chapter of the Utah Association of Women during a meeting of the organization. Nancy Evans, 284 W. 800 N., will serve as secretarytreasurer of the womens association that sponsors monthly educational study groups to promote the involvement of women in community affairs. They will be meeting monthly and feel that they will have a very active and influential group which is off to a good start, according to Mrs. Hawkins. In October they will attend a n in Ogden to learn whiat she called the political ins and outs, how to be more informed citizens and how to promote the Republican Party. They meet once a month, at 1 p.m., at the South Davis County Library. Couple of Roy Wed In Ceremony Saturday ROY The former Miss Karen Schmitt of Roy, daughter of Vicki Jensen of Tropic, Utah, became the bride of Claude Payne Saturday. Wedding rites were performed at the Wedding World Reception Center by Bishop Lowell Hadley. The bride wore an ivory gown for the wedding and reception which also at the reception followed, center. The bridgegroom is a son of William and Edna Payne, 5048 S. 2500 W Roy. Karen Watson was matron of honor with Andrea Pollard as maid of honor and Lisa Jones, Karen Lampa and Lisa Walton as bridesmaids. They wore peach colored gowns. Best man was Mike Payne, with Brad Fisher, Allen Schmitt, David Jensen and Mike McCoy as ushers. Danielle Walton was flower girl and Michael Jensen was ring bearer. Orchid Club Meets Guests KAYSVILLE The Orchid Club held its annual guest night at the little theater at Davis High School. Approximately 70 people were in attendance. Special guest Florence Hansen, sculptress of Joseph and Emma and the Teaching With Love statues, was the speaker. These statues are in place at the LDS Church womens monument in Nauvoo, 111.
