White, has long been a childrens favorite and has been made into a movie, but the students of the drama department of Woods Cross High will be the first amateur or professional group to present it as a stage show. Two summers ago, Mrs. Hobbs decided that Charlottes Web would be a challenging stage presentation. After several calls to New York she obtained the permission of J.G. Gude of the Famous Music Corporation to use the music from the film production. Harper and Row, publishers of the book, also gave her permission to use the story. Mrs. Hobbs spent last summer writing the play. As a change from the movie, the characters in Charlottes Web will just suggest the animals they portray by their costumes am movements. Charlotte, the spider, played by Kim Rodabough will be costumed in black and gray chiffon. Her movements will also capture the spider feeling. Wilber the pig, played by Kevin Chase, will wear bib overalls. Fern will be played by Caylynne Godfrey. Seven area children from 3 to 8 years old will play the goslings. The rest of the cast are students from the speech and drama department of Woods Cross High. Americas future belongs to our youth, said Hatch. I think they should have some say in what kind of future theyll get, and our Youth Advisory Committee helps give them that say. 49 Listens QUEEN Acts GEORGE BURBRIDGE , Sold in Bountiful Council Read The Classified For Best Results 59. 99 .'110 ftftftftftftftftftftftftftftiritftftftftitft'kirftftftftftftitftftftftftftftft SLEEP SHOP jj HAAGASIN OGDEN T y- - RIVIRDAK RIVERDALE R0. 4033 S. 399-491- cintu 9 BUtai. The students, chosen for the committee by Layton High School Principal Paul Smith, will advise Hatch of their opinions and concerns in meetings with him, and by responding to surveys on various national issues. The committee will also provide its members unique insights into Congress and national government. , Committee members from Layton High School are: Peggy Lloyd, Kevin Cummings,. Wendy Gunther, Anthony Maestas, William Burke, and Torrell Kump. I am really pleased to have these young people working with me, said Hatch. The members of last years committee were some of the finest young people in the state, and I am anticipating the same kind of group this year. The viewpoint and opinions of these students will help me better represent both Utah, and Utahs young people. According to a survey, 100 percent of last years committee members thought their involvement with Hatch was worthwhile. Some said their opportunity to talk with a Senator, to ask questions, and to get immediate answers were the most beneficial parts of the program. I enjoyed talking to Sen. Hatch, and finding out his views, said one committee member. I also liked the opportunities I had to give my ideas. committee also aims to The in a group that is tradiinvolvement civic spur tionally uninvolved.
