Show - - Carbon and Emgry County Sports Guide August 2000 With only four starting players returning, Spartans face tough road in repeating Emerys successful 99 football season The Emery County High School football team has a tough road ahead as the Spartans try to repeat last season's success. Only four gridders who started on last years second-plac- e team will return to play for Emery High. Devin Wilberg started as an offensive lineman, but he will probably share time at fullback with a second Emery High School senior, Jesse Nielson. Junior Kent Stilson will take the quarterback spot on the Spartan football team. Stilson started for the junior varsity team as a sophomore last year and has a good chance to start on the varsity squad for the next two seasons. Senior Jesse Sitterud and junior Kenny Labrum will see most of the time at running back. Neither Sitterud or Labrum have substantial varsity time, but they will be the keys to how far the Emery Spartans can go in the upcoming football season. Senior DJ Card brings experience to the receiving and defensive-bac- k corps for the Emery High School football team. Although he did not start for the Spartans last year, Card played quite a bit and will probably be Stilson's main receiver.
