Commissioner Johnson said, The SSD 1 recommended that the same two be reappointed to these positions. I make a motion to reappoint Merrill Swasev and fill the other position with Richard Jensen. The mot ion was seconded and the motion carried with an agreement that a letter of appreciation go out, to Sherrel Ward for the hard work he has put into the board. Public Lands Council Chairman Tracy Jeffs said, We have three terms expiring on the council, Eugene Johansen, Dennis Worwood and Wes Curtis. Eugene did not reapply but the other two Wes and Dennis did Commissioner Johnson said, "1 recommend that we reappoint Dennis Worwood and Wes Curtis. We need their expertise and Wes has a tie to the governor. For the third appointment I recommend we appoint Dickson Huntington. Ibis would accomplish the need to draw' in new people to the Public Lands Council." The motion was seconded and carried. Jeffs requested that the Commissioners send letters of notification to all applicants to tell of the appointments and thank them for their interest. The next item on the agenda was the rescheduling of the meeting of the intent to make North Emery Water Users a Special Service District. The meetingwill be changed from March 8 to March 29th at 6 p.m. at Huntington Elementary. The next item of business was the issuing of a business license to Michael Baker of Buckhorn Ranch. His business is making and selling rendezvous goods. Auditor Bruce Funk presented any add ons which included the Rodeo Club, a legal notice, and the portion owed the State of Utah from the sell of marriage licenses. The listorical Society requested a computer and software. The approval for the authoriza 1 tion of needed funds for replacing vehicles in the Sheriffs office during this year which includes two ambulance's and two Suburbans for vehicles. emergency d The use of cell phones for the Sheriffss Office was discussed and the best rate plans to use for these phones. The motion to accept the check edit list, additional claims, requisitions and dispositions was made off-roa- and carried. Pat Snowball, Personnel Director, presented a six month pay increase for a worker in the road department, and the hiringof TedAnn Funk as the new' RSVP Director for 24 hours per week. The motion was moved, seconded and carried. A request from a library worker to reduce her hours and wage was presented. Discussion ensued on the effects of other employees in the library increasing their hours to cover for the employee with reduced hours. It was agreed the commission w ould approve the request, but would meet with library officials to determine the other matter of increasing the other employee's hours and the strain this would put on the library 91) wells but will probabout (!() wells in Northern Emery County. Emery and Carbon County combined for the PTA Reflections Award Night on Feb. 9, at the Museum of the San Rafael in Castle Dale. The students from area schools entered seven different categories which included Visual Arts, Music, Theatre, Photography, Dance, Film and Video, and Literature. Boyd Bell, Carbon School District Superintendent, was on hand to give out the Carbon Council Awards. Patsy Stoddard, Emery Council PTA President, gave out the awards to the Emery Council Winners. Virginia Sanchez, Region 12 PTA President, presented the awards to the region winners. All region winners will go on to the State Competition. All region winners will also be on display the second week of May at BYU at the Utah State PTA Convention. All entries were on display, two videos were viewed; one produced by Nikel Taylor the other produced by Nick Banningand one literature composition was read by the au- thor, Kennedy Kemple. The Emery County winners were: Film and Video-NikTaylor, Photoel graphy-Jade Christophersen and Libby Jensen, Visual Arts-Brya- n Ison, Keisha Holmes, Jennifer Brinkerhoff and Teigan Adams, Bott, Kennedy Kemple, Jake Gordon, Jocelynn Hayw ard, Music- - Ashton Hansen and Kassie Allred.
