SummerFestival Adds Shoot-Out ToList of Events forcl 17 OREM — There's going to be a shoot-out, but not at the OK Corral. It won't match the bad guys against the good, or even Robin hood against the Sheriff of Nottingham. But it will be a highly unusual shoot-out. Members of the Utah Valley Archery Association have challenged the Orem Police Department to the shoot-out, using the weapons with which they are most familiar . . guns and bows. The shoot will be a special feature of Orem’s Summer Festival, and will be held on the final day of celebration, July 17, at 9 am. at the police pistol range. The handicapsshould be about even. The police will shoot with one hand, the archers will use both. Targets will be regulation police bullseyes, and the shooting will be done at regulation police range of 50 feet. Thefirst seminar is designed to assist the students to discover their abilities in the areas of writing and thinking — two very important tools for a correspondence degree. Five other seminars, with dates to be announced later, are being planned, including the general areas of religion and philosophy, supervised by Prof. Roy Doxey; social sciences, Dr. John S. Staley; physical sciences and natural sciences, Dr. J. Duane Dudley; aerial photography to replace ground survey methods in identifying plot ownership; and the application of computer technology for rapid processing of the large volume of transactionsin the issuance oftitles and payment of compensation to former land owners. Mr. Wakefield, 49, was assigned to the AID Mission in Vietnam in 1967. He holds a bachelor of science degree in animal husbandry from Utah State University.
