The group, Societys League Against Molesters, has lobbied the Utah State Legislature on newly-forme- House Bill 209, d encouraged strong penalties in child molestation cases and passed out leaflets to get their point across to the public. ; Our goal is to educate the public on the sexual Jnolestation of children, said Pat Wimpee, president of Davis County SLAM. We want to help ' victims by getting therapy for them and making sure offenders dont do it again. Most offenders admit they were sexually abused as children so we want to try to break that cycle. SLAM had its public meeting April 7. Approximately 15 people attended. The chapters next meeting will have District Judge Stanton M. Taylor as a guest speaker on May 5. Currently, the Salt Lake chapter of SLAM has 112 members. A SLAM chapter has begun in Provo and Mrs. Wimpee hopes there will be enough interest in the Ogden area to start a chapter there.
