While there have been fluctuations in the health of the community theatre, it has consistently maintained that there is a need and a desire for community theatre in the Bountiful area. The Bountiful Community Theatre is headed by a board of 15 directors representing a of the community. They all share a commitment to provide an opportunity for the to particicommunity-at-larg- e pate in theatrical experiences, and to provide quality entertainment. The BCT Guild is a support group that provides some fundraising activities, prepares a luncheon for the cast on the day of the first performance, provides scholarships for high school students; seminars, and other projects in support of the or 292-397- 4. BCT. Yet qanother support group is called the Debs and Squires, comprised of 30 to 40 teenagers who usher and sell refreshments at BCT productions. All BCT auditions are open o all who are interested. Cast and crew members have come from as far as Sandy and Ogden to participate. Residence in the Bountiful area is not a requirement. In spite of the fact that numerous church, and professional theatrical groups are active throughout the state of Utah, Director Whitney Young feels there is a definite need that community theatre fulfills. Very little experience in drama is provided in the elementary and junior high schools, and high school drama experience is limited to a three-yea- r period in ones life. A community theatre gives those both younger and older than teens in high school a chance to enlarge their theatrical skills. In addition to those performing on stage, many people are needed as crew members and technicians. Right now the BCT is looking for both a lighting and sound technician. At the present time the BCTs chilrens theatre production of East of the Sun, West of the Moon scheduled for April. Current plans call for production of a musical in either May or June and a summer program to provide children with a full range of theatrical experience. semi-profession- luttherans Set lentten Services BOUNTIFUL Continuing each Tuesday during Lent, Mount Tabor Lutheran Church will be conducting Lenten services for all interested Christians in the Davis County area. Services will be held at the Lindquist Mortuary Chapel, 727 N. 400 E., Bountiful, at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome. Following the service each week, Rev. Anthony Auer, pastor of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, will be conducting a bible study and discussion on the topic: Why Bad Things Happen to Good People. Using as his texts The Book of Job, and Rabbi Harold Kushners When Bad Things Happen to Good People, the study will examine what our attitudes are towards ourselves and God when something bad has happened in our life, and ways in which we may better equip ourselves to handle tragedy, and how we can better understand Gods role in the world and our lives. Rev. Auer is a graduate of Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul. Minn. For the past three years he has served as the pastor of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, 175 S. 700 E., Salt Lake City. For further information, please contact Rev. Auer, Officials Look Three BounBOUNTIFUL tiful City officials are scheduled to visit a resource separation and densification facility in Laramie, Wyo. City officials are considering alternatives to a resource covery plant that has been repro- posed for Davis County. At the plant in Wyoming, garbage is condensed into a pellet that when heated produces a gas, according to Tom Hardy, city manager. The gas can be used to produce steam and electricity, Hardy said. at Plant Hardy said that if the city elected to use the process to dispose of its garbage, the steam and electricity could be used to heat the citys swimming pool. I think theres enough interest that we should look at all alternatives before signing something to go along with a resource recovery project in the county, Hardy said. Besides Hardy, City Councilman H. Keith Barton and City Engineer Jack Balling will make the trip. MISSIONARY NOTICES, WEDDING AND ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS AND OTHER NEWS ITEMS 3:30 P.M.
