prayer was offered by brother thomas broadbent consoling remarks were made by elders H 0 magleby soren petersen paterson peter christensen and ana bishop J 1 I jensen gensea sister katie marquardson since coming to elsinore less than one year ago sister bisier paterson Pe has won the respect 01 of all and has made a large circle of friends she was an active worker in the church being at the time of her death a teacher in the brooklyn sunday school counselor to the president of the Y L M L I 1 A of elsinore and a member of the choir before coming to elsinore she took an active part in all the organizations of the twenty second ward of salt lake city where she lived eight years sister hanna peterson as she wes was commonly known was a kind dutiful daughter possessed ot at a loving disposition prompt and atten attentive tivo to duty and was on hand at every call she was loved and respected by all who knew her and will be greatly missed she was a talented musician and possessed of traits ot character not usually acquired so early in life deceased w was born bom february 7 1879 in copenhagen denmark and came to this country with her parents when but four years old at the time baptized into the church august ath 1848 was married in the year to peter she emigrated r sted to utah in the year 1852 crossed t the sea in the ship falcon and crossed t the plain in appleton M hammons Ha imona imons company arrived in salt lake city oct 1852 settled first in cherry now center ville davis da vis county oon nty her husband was called lied to go to ho strengthen the settlements in sanpete county they left centerville center Cent erville ville and moved to monti manti in the fall of 1862 1852 moved to ephraim in the spring of 1853 she he was set met apart as an midwife at this time and she has practiced p midwifery ever since has been at the birth of about 1400 children she was the first white women woman who lived in the first fork at ephraim in the year 1864 1804 the family was called to settle fhe sevier valley and they settled at 01 enwood and lived there during the black hawk war she attended to the sick ick and wounded during said time in the year 1867 when the sevier settlements were abandon edthe family moved to fountain green and she has practiced in n her or pro profession bajon ever since she has been it a teacher in the relief society since the year 1868 and has been counselor in the presidency since the year 1889 she was the mother of ton ten children six of whom will meet her in the other world and four are yet living here and have families and are faithful members in the she has lony jorty two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren she was much respected and beloved by all who know knew her and always has been a sith ful member in the church she died in full hope ot of a glorious resurrection ELIZA ANN ADAMS ST sunday sanday march 1897 was a solemn day in the city of st george as aa on the evening previous samuel L adams jr and nine of his children arrived here bringing with them the lifeless body of his beloved wife and tho the mother of his family who had died at eureka on the of march 1897 after a short illness As thu thin was their home in life they could not consent to lay her away in any other place but brought her to where her manydeeds many deeds of love had caused all to admire her for it can in truth be said that to know her was to love her Elli balza mAun ann daughter of isaac C and elia ann aim price haight was born at cedar city on the aih of may 1868 and was married to samuel L adams jr on the of may 1875 she ehe died on the of march 1897 she bhe leaves an aged otter mother an affectionate husband len ion living children one has preceded her to the oe spirit world raise up friends to go the mother lew ian children the funeral services over the remains of slater sister adain were held in the st george tabernacle sunday march ast 1st 1897 bishop andrews presiding elder james G bleak was the first speaker he was followed by elders thomas judd and john E pace bishop andrews and president david H cannon each having known her from her youth all bore testimony of her firm integrity to the truth of the gospel and also to her good example in all her walks in life the tabernacle was well filled and a feeling of love was shown to the bereaved family about people viewed the remains and although it was a bitter cold day a large procession followed the remains to the st george cemetery W A HARRIET ELIZA STOWELL harriet ellza eliza owell Si wife of patriarch william R ra B stowell owell Si departed this lite march ath 1897 at her residence in logan cache county utah she was norn dorn january ath 1843 in westfield chautauqua county New Vor kand emigrated with her parents in 1853 at the time lime of the gold excitement in california but on account of the lateness of the season and the delicate health dofher parents they decided to stop at ai provo till the next spring both boidol of them howver however died during the winter leaving five orphan children homeless among strangers brother wm R R stowell a relative of the father of these children chil drea lived at fillmore Pill Fill mere on learning of this made haste to provo and took the children all home with him and oared for fortham them they therall all identified themselves with the church of jesus christ of latter day saints in 1865 1855 they moved to 10 ogden city utah where here they resided till 1889 she was married the of august 1860 and in 1889 moved with her jamily to logan gologan and settled in ward where she by her kind disposition and faithful labor in ithe the temple relief society and sunday school won for herself the high esteem of all her associates as she was an ardent worker until her health was undermined der mined by a cancer in the left breast the of last may she underwent an operation with the hopes of conquering cinq the affliction but it proved of no n avail and she one bore her muttering ering with the patience of a job death came as a happy relief she was a faithful wife an affectionate mother and a true latter day saint she leaves a husband six children five grandchildren and a host of friends friends to mourn her loss at the funeral services in the meeting house an excellent tribute was paid to her upright character by all the speakers A large cortege followed her remains to the depot as she desired to be laid to rest beside her two children who had preceded her in the family lo 10 lot i in the ogden cemetery at the ogden station a great number ot her old friends and relatives re legreat atiles awaited the arrival of the family and accompanied them to see her peacefully laid away in the silent tomb to awalt await a glorious resurrection acox con JOHN J ALLRED HATCHTOWN garfield county utah march 29 1897 in the death of johnj john J allred utah has lost one of her staunch and tried citizens and the church parts with another of its members in mortality one who has left the tee ranks here and has gone to labor with the hosts of workers beyond brother allred was born in ia bedford county tenn september I 1 1821 he joined the church at the age of oi 15 was familiar with the persecutions burough which the saints had to pass in early days he was well acquainted with the prophet J oseph joseph smi smith th and often had heard him speak in the year 1861 brother allred crossed the plains with one of the ox teams traveling from illinois linola Il to missouri thence to utah he settled fat Hennefer but moved to bhones burg in the dixie country where he lived for thirty one years D mage to that place by floods caused some to remove demov in 1892 to hatchtown Hatch town near the head waters of the sevier river in garfield county where he died on march 16 1897 at the age of 76 years being a resident of the last mentioned place live five years ye arsand md of utah thirty V six years he was a regular attendant at sunday schools and OU ail church meetings was a straightforward upright exemplary leader in the community he was presiding priest of the t quorum when he was well enough to attend its meetings which were hold held on sunday evenings his last attendance was on february ath although fedow feell ng unwell he walked to the meeting bon house for sunday school to the after afternoon and presided at the priesthood meeting the evening he expressed his feebleness at the meeting and gave good in tive encouragement to the meni benk alter after returning home on the evening of the ath that being past day brother allred was taken with the the face from the effects of which be suffered very severely at tiny through all of his last illness of 11 weeks he bore his affliction with 1110 patience and resignation to the will of the lord he sat mat in his easy chair good deal of the time during his last 01 ness he asked to be assisted frow from his nl bed to his chair which chieh request his wit
