Show Magna Times, July 3, 1 980, Page 6 F Utah Power And Light Company Meanders Down Main THE SAFE WAS Street By Jim Russell The event that two months ago seemed to be far, far in the future, sneaked up on me and has actually happened. We have moved our Utah Power and Light office into the former Cyprus Credit Union building at 2711 So. 8600 West. While we havent quite got everything open yet, we are in business. The moving van pulled up to our old office about 8:30 a.m. Saturday and by 1 p.m. we were pretty well moved, with only a few minor (?) problems. In the first place, the movers were not able to get our big old fashioned safe on the truck so they put it on a dolly, tied it behind the van and took off down main street. Everything went fine until they were almost to 8600 West when a caster on the dolly broke and threw the safe onto the pavement, on its front, of course. The handle was bent and the dials were fouled up. Glens Key and Safe Company sent a man out and after several hours work, got things back to normal. I think some pictures were taken as the old safe went down the street. I can hardly wait to see them. Kent A. Ive walked through a couple of times and really enjoyed the pottery, sculpture, and Navajo Art he has on display. Kent is presently employed as an art teacher and wrestling coach at the Monument Valley High School, Kayenta, Arizona (located on the Navajo Indian Reservation). At any rate come on down, see the Art Exhi bit and say hello to our UP and L staff while you are here. Those of us who enjoy barber shop harmonies have a treat in store for us next week. The National of the convention S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. is in town all next week with their national quartet and chorus contests. A public concert will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Salt Palace Arena. Cost is minimal and if you like close harmony it should be a night well worth the money. One of the featured quartets on Wednesday night will be our own Evans Bros. Quartet. Sad to say, but true as all mothers can testify, the list is just beginning and by some strange miracle manages to grow to fill every day, day after day. Naturally mixed in with all of this running to and fro, are frequent pit stops to fill the tank with gas. Just think of the money you could save on gas alone, not to mention the wear and tear on the car, if you never had to run errands. Think of the hours spent huddled over the steering wheel or waiting in a hot parking lot for some kid to dash in and out of the store.
