Show OBITUARY 0 X W ua IMY JONES s in the fifteenth ward this ity city november novembre f lath 1888 at p in rebecca maria rel relict ic t of the V jones and daughter of samuel and hannah burton deceased was born in fiercer ercer essex county gutper upper canada february 1826 she was in january 1838 at that place when her fathers family received the gospel io the entire family soon after the latter date started for far west but on account of the exodus of the saints fro from missouri Kis they located at walnut grove grov illinois in 1839 lu in october 1844 the damik family removed to nauvoo and on march 14 11 deceased was married to nathaniel V jones by bv heber C kimball febe lived in nauvoo until the saints were driven out and in the spring big of 1846 left there arriving in council bluffs bafs about july 1 on the of the same oame month her ber husband enlisted in the mormon battalion leaving her with a child about four months old from council bluffs ue ceased removed to atchison county mo where she remained until her husbands return from california in august 1847 in august 1849 deceased arrived with her husband and two children in salt lake laire vallel valley having made the journey by ox team since ince that time lias has been in the fifteenth ward of this city owin owing gothe to the absence or of tier her hudband on missions most of the time she was with her family to struggle straggle with the difficulties ot a newly settled country until feb 16 1863 when on the irth anniversary of her birth she elie buried tier husband she has thus deen a widow anidow tor for the last twenty six years of tier her life during during the many years which sister jones has lived a widow anidow she has shown remarkable industry and perseverance eherance eve rance in caring for her children both temper temporally ally and her first great care aind choti thought being to instill into their winds minds the principles of truth as taught b by y the prophet J oseph joseph smith the early and unfortunate death of her son F B Jones who was killed in now new mexico produced areat shock to nervous system and many years of constant care and nd attention occasioned 8 by the continued ill health of her bor daughter mrs clira clara J young now deceased dod ded se d bore heavily upon her in both mind eca and d b body d y her tender and sympathetic devotion to her children has invariably made the their 1 r trouble or inis misfortune fortune her own amid all the changes and trials of life she stood firm and ana unfailing to the truths of the e everlasting er lasting gospel and showed 12 an eminent devotion to her sense of duty and 43 principle duties rit n e s i le both in private life and public deceased was since IW 1855 an efficient and active worker in the relief belief society and at her death was counselor to the president of the society in the ward in which she lived at the time of iho arrival of the saints who crossed the plains with hand carts she was s specialty P active in ministering tor for their relief she was the mother of eight children four of whom are now living the original nal cause of the debility w which hiob ter in death was disease of of the kidneys attended wi with h acute brain trouble on sunday novem november be ae r b she taught tier her class of young lilies in iribe sabbath school as usual but on the same evening was taken violently ill with be severe vere pains ju in her head bead she was a groat great gerer until death came to her relief relic |
