Show pennsylvania conference GRAFTON west virginia november loth 1888 editor deseret news tile the elders Elder tand and saints of the pennsylvania sYl vallia conference have been much refreshed by their semiannual semi annual conference which convened on oct and at the head of little fishing wetzel county west virginia arrangements range ments had bad previously been made wita the trustees by the elders traveling in that county for the use nee of their schoolhouses in which to hold bold our conference but at the last moment the one holding the keys refused to let us ue in this however did not hinder binder us from our as a friend a hall ball in another part kindly gave us ua the use of it and on the date mentioned we began our conference there were present elders D E harris president of the mission and heber bennion Ben tilon president of the con ference also the following traveling trav eUna elders T H G parkes A H woolley W P fullmer fallmer maa mark biar bigler GT W B R stevens vens leroy bolt J JD D leigh J A west 8 0 halet let jr B R E robinson joseph bart bartholomew olo jr and henry bown the last named two having just arrived from boette sanpete co utah ahe ilist two meetings were poorly attended on account of of many of the people not knowing of the change in the place of holding it the meeting on saturday evening as also the three sunday services service were well attended tile the hall ball being filled filled to its utmost capacity and the best of order prevailed throughout at these meetings the elders elder spoke forcibly upon and ex many of the principles of the gospel which seemingly left a good I 1 impression upon thomp those in attendance on monday at 10 a am m we held our priesthood meeting at the residence of leonard jackson lere here the elders gave reports of their labors for the past as summer er and expressed their feelings in regard to the great litter latter day work ork in which we are engaged all gave favorable reports re orts and felt to rejoice in the work of the tord lord all h had ad enjoyed excellent health had bad m made ade many good friends and as a rule bean b ean kindly treated together we have ave held meetings baptized 28 blessed 7 emigrated 89 and have only had to 6 bi without beds fifty ni nights Ms through reports from the elders elders we learn there are many who express themselves as ag being satisfied that the gospel as taught by the latter day saints is the true gospel of christ as it t was preached by jesus and vis his ap apostles astles anciently ancle atly still they have not courage enough to embrace the same and endure the trials and persecutions that must come upon the saints of god and that have always been with the true followers of jesus christ at 1 3 p in we continued our council meeting the sacrament was administered ered after which the clerk read a very interesting letter received from president palmer the elders were then thea assigned their fields of labor and companions which was satisfactory with witti all president harris read the rules of the mission after which much timely advice counsel and instruction were given by presidents bennion Bennio nand and harris during the entire conference we enjoyed ourselves oura elvea greatly in our associations tio 11 to together ether and feel to thank our Heallen heavenly fly father for the spirit and instructions received much credit is due the people of this locality for fop the kind hospitality extended to us for which we feel feelis to tender our sincere thanks and invoke the blessings of god upon them with all have ministered to the wants and comfort of nig his servants we all leave for our fields of labor feeling much refreshed by t ta he good time we nave have had together ever praying tor for the welfare of zion kremann your brother in the gospel fotij of christ A H WOOLLEY clerk of Confer conference ettee |
