Show r f Nowemfer 29, 1983 Page 16 The Tfcunderfnnf Tuesday Coming up Town meeting set Governor Scott Matheson and educational leaders from throughout southern Utah will discuss educational issues at a special public town meeting November 30 at SUSC. The meeting will be one of nine similar events held simultaneously in towns and cities around the state, according to Michael D. Richards, assistant to the president. The basis of the meeting is the report of the governor's bipartisan Utah Education Reform Steering Committee. The report recommends a number of reforms for both public and higher education, including a $150 million increase in funding. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium. The public is invited. Hearing is held A public hearing will be held today at SUSC for those who would like to comment on a proposed change in the definition of vocational education that would exclude home economics. The meeting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Library Seminar Room. It is one of nine such meetings scheduled throughout the state in the next few days. Workshop slated A workshop for prospective business owners and for those who have been in business for a year or less will be held Dec. 3 at Southern Utah State College. The ABCs of Starting and Running a Business has been planned to provide initial information in six major areas of concern, from business records to regulation taxes, according to Harry Swanson, coordinator of the SUSC Small Business Development Center. Workshop hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Old Administration 204. A $10 registration fee will be charged. It can be paid just before the opening session. Fantasy scheduled Fantasy in Frost, a community-wid- e from celebration, will be held Dec. 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. Featured in the performance will be groups such as: Cedar High Madrigals, SUSC Chorale, Sundance Kids and Cassidy Cloggers. The cost will be 50 cents for adults, and 25 cents for children under 12. Refreshments will be on sale, the proceeds will go toward SUSCs landscaped walkway. |
