Frain G. Pearson, chairman of the committee, was appointed by President Gerald R. Sherratt to make a final recommendation on the proposed trade of college property. At present, we have made no decisions, Pearson reported. We are reviewing the facts and trying to decide what is in' ' the deal for SUSC. Alf Engen and George Hartlmaier, prospective profits made by future land developments and a percentage of lift ticket sales. According to Hartlmaier, the majority of the land has already been purchased from the Bureau of Land Management. The property owned by SUSC is needed to begin the ski resorts plans for development. If we decide not to sell, said Pearson, the resort plans will not be pursued. They need our land and we are just not sure we will benefit by giving it to them. The Engen Mountain Ski Resort is to be a three phase project located on the face of Black Mountain. The first phase would include the construction of a lodge, three ski lifts, a parking lot and a maintenance building. The second phase, according to the developers, would introduce 12 additional acres of parking, a machine, restaurants and three additional ski lifts. The third phase, which they said is not fully developed as of yet, may include additional lifts, condominiums, 12 more acres of parking and shopping facilities. According to Pearson, final decisions will not be made before the end of winter quarter. It is not up to me or the members of the committee, he said. Our jobs are to find out the facts and make a recommendation to the administration. They will make the final decision. If the exchange is approved, construction of the resort would not begin for another one to two years, Pearson said. six-ac- We are reviewing the facts and trying to decide what is in the deal for SUSC developers of the Engen Mountain Ski Resort, propose to trade approximately 920 acres of college land, including Woods Ranch, for property near Miners Peak.
