The annual survey of SUSC graduates conducted by the Placement Office provides such statistics as how many students have graduated in the different departments, how many are finding employment and what kinds of jobs they are taking. The report deals with 1983 graduates and also r includes a compilation of graduates. The College Placement Council National Placement Survey for 1982-8shows that job offers decreased 34.5 percent from the previous year, and a greater number of graduates took employment in fields unrelated to their major and minor fields of study 14.1 percent as compared to 11 percent for r the average. Sherratt presented a plan to the council to combine two college fund raising groups the SUSC Foundation and the Fundraising Board. It has been confusing with two boards, he said. Council Chairman Dale Zabriskie said he thinks the plan is an excellent idea and suggested that bylaws for the two groups be rewritten. The plan will again be considered by the council at its December meeting in St. George. Michael D. Richards, assistant to the president, told the council the makeup of the colleges student body has been undergoing changes in recent years. In 1979, 50 percent of the students were age 20 or younger. This year 36 percent are age 20 or younger; so our students are getting older, he said. Also, were getting more females, he said. This year 52 percent of the student body are females. According to Richards, five years ago the figure was 50 percent. Don Blanchard, chairman of the industrial education department, said that a new offering of New offerings degrees should help his department. will help with returning students and should attract new students. SUSC is in a unique position because it is the only school in the state other than Brigham Young University that has all of these programs.
