Show The Tfumderbird Monday, September 26, 1983 Page 35 Bamum musical seeks variety of unusual talent Auditions for the circus musical Bamum will be held today, Monday, Sept. 26, and Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. on the SUSC auditorium stage. Aspiring actors should prepare an audition scene from any light play no more than one minute in length for readings today. Auditioners will need a short, light song no more than one minute in length for Tuesday. An accompanist will be provided. Movement auditions will begin immediately afterwards, and R. Scott Phillips of the theatre department notes that those auditioning should plan on staying until everyone is finished singing. Wear unrestrictive clothing and be prepared for expressive physical movement, says Phillips. Bamum, by Mark Bramble and Larry Stewart, is based on the life and loves of fabled showman Phineas T. Barnum. Directed by Fred Adams, professor of theatre, it will open the 1983-8theatre season with mountains of magic, music, and motion. She has worked with The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, the Oregon Shakespearean Festival and the Utah Shakespearean Festival in over 20 productions. Some of her credits include Queen Elizabeth in Richard III, Gertrude in Hamlet, and Mistress Page in Merry Wives of Windsor. Savage has a B.A. from California State Univeic'ty. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and studied privately with Lee Strasberg. Currently, she can be seen in The Yellow Rose on television.
