Says Blindness Rising Blindness is increasing in this country faster than population, a University of Utah ophthalmologist said Wednesday. While the incidence of cataracts and glaucoma, the most serious causes of blindness in the past are decreasing, said Dr. Henry J. L. Entries are due by Tuesday and interested girls may obtain entry forms from Stevens East, Henager College, which is sponsoring the contest. The winner of the Salt Lake contest wUl advance to the Miss Utah contest, the winner of which will go to the Miss America Pageant. LeRoy R. But now there are more diabetics living longer, he said, and blindness is increasing. Dr. Van Dyk made these comments during a meeting in his office kicking off a state Lions Club cam- ticket-sellin- g paign for an April 17 music benefit show to raise money for an eye bank at the university. They will be accompanied by a orchestra. The show will be "one of the finest family shows ever to be held in the state, he added. Tickets for the show are available from most of the nearly 4.100 Lions in the state as well as a number of businesses, he said.
