The purpose of this hearing is to receive public input on a Commercial Site Plan for the proposed Linde Car Wash JenA former student and a volunteer of Read To Succeed, Ronald Vinson and sen are hopeful that the city will decide to continue the literacy program. A Payson resident, Ronald Vinson, who says he has had a reading disability ever since he was "in school," completed the program last year. "They taught me a lot of how to sound out words, figure out the words- - to really comprehend words meanings." he says. "I would say it helped me a lot because, when I first started, I couldnt even sit down and start to read a paper. I can now almost read a newspaper completely "I think they should continue to program because they help people with problems learn to read. It would be a shame to get rid of the program." Norene Jensen has been a volunteer for Read to Succeed in the past and she says she has seen how it has benefited members of the community. "I feel (the City Council) needs to table it right now and not make such a rash decision." Payson City Council discussed the possibility of closing the program, due to lack of funds, at the March 18th council meeting, but they were unable to come to a decision at that time whether or not to close the program. The issue is scheduled on the agenda again for tonights council meeting (April 1st). "I feel they need a director," says Mrs. Jensen, "but they need a paid assistant, too, as far as manning the program. The people of Read to Succeed are priceless. They donate time to help people. The rewards for the tutor are valuable, too. When (the students) succeed, they feel successful. would your quality of life be if you didnt have "Where would you be working-wh- at the opportunity to read and comprehend to function in society?" 54-year-- Payson High School Calendar uiaawiiMiiiMiyMS GEGEK3IEIIS SdDOal Monthly Service Plan 19.99 Sfffl Minutes Included: Additional Airtime: Long Distance: Included Features: Home Service Area: i1 1 Added benefits for choosing AT&T Wireless: No roaming charges in 9 Western States 50 off all incoming eds after base minutes 2" Wireless Services AT&T Authorized Dealer J AIRFREE WIRELESS 373-CEL- L Utah County Track Meet - at Payson Band Tour SUNDAY - April 5 Band Tour MONDAY - April 6 Cheer Assembly Boys Tenni- - Springville Baseball - at Springville Band Tour TUESDAY - April 7 Girls Softball - American Fork Boys Soccer - Timpview Band Tour WEDNESDAY - April 8 Boys Tennis - Pleasant Grove Reg Con Band - at Lone Peak Baseball - Timpview Band Tour - a month Add an extra 100 minutes of off peak use for only $2" PC a minute!
