Show The Payson Chronicle, March 6, 1996, Page SantaquinGenola Drug Raids During the last seek, officers from the San- taquinGenola Police Department executed search warrants number ten, eleven, and twelve since October. "Im a little surprised that were still getting this level of drug distribution and use, Chief of Police Tom Austin remarked., "Weve been extremely aggressive in going after drug dealers, but apparently those engaged in the activity are not getting the message. I can promise that were going to continue a maximum effort to rid Santaquin and Genola of these parasites." Austin reports that two of the suspects arrested earlier in the year on multiple charges arising from drug raids have been sentenced and are now serving time in secure facilities. "Maybe the word will get around that not only are the police serious about enforcement on dregs, but the county attorneys office is determined to prosecute them, and the judges are handing down sentences which include prison time," Austin observed. SANTAQUIN: On Friday, February 23, officers from the SantaquinGenola Police Department and the NET team raided two homes in Santaquin. During the course of these raids, six adults were arrested and transported to the Utah County Jail. There were a variety of charges filed, including possession of marijuana in a drug free zone, possession of cocaine in a drug free zone, possession of unprescribed pharmaceuticals, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a number of misdemeanors. "This is the second time that weve done a drag raid in Santaquin and found a large number of syringes used to inject various drugs directly into blood veins," Chief Austin said. "Some of the people that we arrested had needle marks on both arms. These individuals are not recreational drug users. They are confirmed addicts who will do most anything to support their habits." GENOLA: Officers from the SantaquinGenola Police Department, Spanish Fork Police Department, Payson Police Department, and the NET team conducted a drug raid in the Town of Genola on Wednesday evening, February 28th. Two persons were arrested at the scene and several d charges will be filed. This is the first drug raid conducted in the Town of Genola in recent memory, and, as far as we know, may be the First raid ever for that community. These were people who had moved into the town recently, and they felt they didn't need to worry about police activity in Genola. They learned differently." drag-relate- YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND A FREE SEMINAR WE WILL DISCUSS HOW TO PROTECT YOUR HOME AGAINST FORECLOSURE DUE TO DEATH OR DISABILITY WHILE BETA CULTUS CLUB NEWS The Beta Cultus Club met on the 13th of February at the Peteetneet Academy, with President the Club Crystal Reynolds presiding.
