A son of Abraham Eckersley and Ellen Cleworth, Elder Eckersley was born in Eccles, England, July 19, 1966. He became converted to the gospel when ninteen years of age and served as a missionary for the Church for two and a half years b'efore coming to America in 1890. Settling in Springville, Utah, he attended the Brigham Young Academy and later went to teach Whëfèschoot he became superintendent of schools. He subsequently returned to his native England for another term of 212 years as a missionary for the Church, He was a member of the Wayne Stake presidency for four years and is now a patriarch in Salt Lake Stake and an ordained temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple in which capacity he has served for 18 years. Elder Eckersley was a member of the tenth and eleventh sessions of the Utah Legislature as senator from the .tenth senatorial district. He also served for four years as county attorney of Wayne County. He married Sarah Wilkinson Dec. 10, 1890,.in the Manti Temple. She died April 28, 1944.
