Its a tough run. But there will be people on Jthe river having the biggest time of their lives. There are several ways to make this run.-On- e thing is necessary an adequate boat and enough power to make y - run-off- up-rive- Aside from the necessary boating equipment, Including the required life jackets, tools, boat repair material, etc, there is the camping stuff, a lightweight sleeping bag, cooking gear, etc. For the most part this trip should be one' of light loads. Gasoline is heavy enough and will take preference over such things as camp tables, ice bins, and the luxury lists. , sandbars should be covered. For about the first 10 milesor soboaters should be ' . prepared to fight the shallows. Many boaters will make the downriver run from Moab and return by the same route. This is a scenic stretch, too. For the heavy inboards and other big craft it is a better and deeper section of the capyon. Not much sand to fight! This trip is one of the most interesting boat events of the season. Its success has been increasing each year. Its safe and sound providing boaters use wisdom. If they look for hazard they can find it Its also a trip for wives and kids provided they can take the normal rigors of the sun and exposure. Allow three days at least. Be sure and take the camera. And a smile! - , But that shoult not happen at all.
