Gyde Sun-Advoca- te S-- Photo Beer license discussion of Huntington Council - met By Elizabeth M. Hanson Two HUNTINGTON business representatives with the city council Monday night, one to again request a beer license and the other to protest its granting. Representing Castle Valley AG, Marion Jensen said that selling beer is part of grocery business and that the store is besieged by requests from the construction workers. She pointed out that the city is loosing revenue from the sales tax. The store would guard against selling to minors, she said. Deon Ward protested licensing any grocery store to sell packaged beer. I have two items to make a living on, cigarettes and beer. A store can sell a case of beer a dollar less than I can and still make money." He said that if the council were to grant the license, be would be forced to stay open on Sunday to make up for losses. Heretofore his business has been closed on Sunday. Council members were concerned over allowing greater accessibility to beer by the young people. After considerable discussion was tabled until absent members. Robert Swinburne and Myron Grange could be in attendance. Judgment on the city dump case will be rendered June 6. Evidently the deed was recorded and yet the land was sold for prior taxes. The water is to be turned off where bills have been long delinquent. A resolution was passed to charge $50 for digging adult graves and $35 for childrens.
