The State Queen was Sharon Moss from Salt Lake City with a loss of 102 pounds. The State King winner was Robert Smot of Bountiful with a loss of 50 lbs. Members of our club who attended SRD DAY were Ilene Jensen, reporter; Rachel Cones, historian; parliamentarian and Janice Pabst, music director. Bell, Darla Mortensen, Edna Bath, Pearl Wilstead, Marva Bruno, and Diane Haycock. A guest was Sandra Callor, Midvale. We welcome all who have weight problems and need encouragement to come and have fun with us at Tops. We meet at the new Price Elementary School, Thursday evening at 6:00, come and join us! Art exhibit at college An exhibit of paintings of members of the art classes at College of Eastern Utah is hanging in the gallery of the library and will remain until the end of the school year. James L. Nielson, Spring Glen, announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Barbara, to Clyde Frank Worthen, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Frank Worthen, Price. Miss Nielson is a graduate of Carbon High and the College of Eastern Utah. She is presently attending Brigham Young University where she is affiliated with Phi Kappa Phi, White Key Club, and BYU Council. She will graduate in August. Mr. Worthen is also a Carbon High and College of Eastern Utah graduate. He is presently attending BYU where he is majoring in political science. Tbe couple will be married in the Manti Temple on May 27th. That evening they will be honored at a reception at the Spring Glen Ward, Spring Glen. Inter-Servi- ce A program of poetry and song was presented during the tea by the Chamber Choir of College of Eastern Utah directed by Jay Andrus. Members of the Chamber Choir include Jean Draper, Margo Peterson, Susan Carlson, Lucia Pappas, Brent Gardner, Vicki Renee Lanphere, Topolelvec, Carolyn Staheli, Diane Bunnell, Quinn Guymon, Lynn Jaquith and Preston Wakefield. I Dorothy Valles engaged to wed Dansante goes south of border The costumes, music and colorful art work of Old Mexico were used to create an interesting atmosphere for the final party of the current Dansante season held at the Carbon Country Club Saturday, May 13. Enhancing the many new features now being added to the large dining hall, various beautiful objects associated with the culture of our neighbors to the south were placed about the room. Large baskets of vivid colored paper flowers graced the piano and hall chest. Similar flowers in large clay pots filled opposite corners, with smaller pots and clay and papier-mach- e animals adding to the artistic touches arrangements. The piano was covered with a delicately woven blanket and several beautifully decorated sombreros hung on the trellised wall behind the serving table. Artificial cactus stood here and there and animal shaped pinatas hung from the ceiling. Later, the breaking of these party pinatas by blind-folde- d t goers provided some enUSA GUZMAN tertainment. Gladys Patterick presided at the dinner, taking opportunity to thank the officers and committees who had worked to give Dansante another memorable year. Mrs. Patterick was presented a gift of jewelry in recognition of her services as club president. She later announced that balloting had resulted in admitting Ted and Virginia Poulos, Frances and Buck Davis, Ted and Billie Self, Warden and Gloria Holdaway and Joe and Aurora Freeman to membership and the election of the following officers: Lucille Pressett, president, Gabe Joe Ishley, Mason, secretary and treasurer; Jean Brown, program chairman; Bob Finney and No- la Horsley, directors. The dinner menu featured Mexican food, served buffet style. Dancing was to the music of the Melody Four. vice-preside- Silly Fillies The Silly Fillies horsemanship club met Saturday. It was led by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey. Club work included a demonstration by Colleen Grange on the three gaits of a horse; Mr. 4-- H Harvey vaccinated a horse discussed how to calm a frightened horse. If your good your friends. . f DOROTHY MAE VALLES At a dinner party held recently Mr. and Mrs. John R. Valles of Price the announced engagement of their daughter, Dorothy Mae, to Angel G. Rivera, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lucas G. Rivera of Juncos, Pureto Rico. Miss Valles is a graduate of Carbon High School and Continental College in Salt Lake City. She is presently employed at Koret of California. The groom-to-b- e is employed with the government in Salt Lake City. A summer wedding is planned for June 24 at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Children offered reading program Children from grades one through grades six are invited to join the summer reading program in the childrens department of the Price City library. Theme for this years program is Book Case Investigators. Children should register any time between now and June 15 when the program officially starts. It will run through August 15. Books on any subject may be read. A reading program card will be given each child who enrolls. Reading awards will be presented to each who completes the program.
