December 24. 1991 Be Christmas Message from Faith Baptist Church a responsible host during holiday parties Each year 24,000 people are killed by drunk drivers, and over 500,000 are injured. Here are some tips from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) that will help you be a responsible host during the holiday party season. Ask guests for their car keys when they arrive and return keys only to those able to drive safely. lf you are serving an alcoholic punch, use a non carbonated base, J such as fruit juice. Always offer non alcoholic beverages when alcoholic drinks are provided. Refuse drinks to those who have had too much already. Stop serving alcohol at least cue hour before the party is over. Never encourage guests to have just one more or one for the road. Never let a guest drive drunk. You've Got Merry Christmas to all from your friends at Faith Baptist. It is our hope that each of you experience a rich and meaningful season this year. Many area residents have become an active part of Faith Baptist Church, and many more have shown great interest particularly as we erected a new auditorium this past summer. There is no way that we can thank God enough for what He has done for us this past year. In putting the finishing touches on the building, one recently completed project was the placing of a lighted cross on the south end of the building. It is plainly visible by driving East on 200 South. We hope that as you have opportunity to see the cross, it will remind you of the real meaning of Christmas: God sent His Son, bom of a virgin, to this old world some 2,000 years ago. His birth was contrary to the laws of birth; His life was contrary to the laws of life; and particularly His death was absolutely contrary to the laws of death. The lighted cross tells the story. It first of all tells the story that Jesus came and that He came to die. Also, as you will notice, the cross is empty; a testimony to the world that Christ is risen. Indeed Christ is a risen and living Saviour. The lights behind the cross depict the very words of Christ Himself, I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12. Truly Christ is the light to everyone who receives Him. May the light of Jesus Christ ever shine in our community. With kindest regards. Pastor Jonathan Edwards the Right One Baby.. O, Christmas inspires us with the joy of giving and the inner fulfillment of sharing. It is in this spirit that we share with you our thoughts of thanks. j Its always a pleasure to serve you. Aurora Welding 430 East Center - Aurora Be sure to include helmet when giving a bicycle The Utah Safety Council and the Utah SAFE KIDS Coalition urges parents and other adults giving children bicycles this holiday season to consider the childs safety first. Last year 400 children were killed and an additional 37,000 were seriously injured in bicycle collisions with motor vehicles. Of these, 75 results in serious head injuries and brain trauma to the cyclist. We ask parents to protect their children while they ride, said Robert Parenti, Director of the Utah Safety Council. Making sure our children own and wear helmets alleviates some of the worry when the ride their bikes. Research notes that bike helmets may reduce the risk of head injury by 85 and the risk of brain Helmets injury by almost work by absorbing and distributing the impact of a crash before it reaches the brain. Its ridiculous that children are still dying in bike crashes when we know wearing a helmet can provide protection from .serious injury, said Dr. Martin Eichelberger, president of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign. When you do buy a helmet, be sure it fits snugly right on top of the head. A helmet that moves forward or back enough to expose the head may not be enough protection. Choose a helmet with sufficient sizing pads and adjustable straps to attain correct fit. Remember too, that if you dont like the way a helmet looks, you most likely wont wear it. If a heimet becomes damaged for any reason, replace it. This year put safety on your Christmas shopping list and by an approved bike helmet.
