Thursday, April 24 is the day for the Heritage Festival in Richfield at the Youth Center. There will be many people entertaining and many interesting arts and crafts to see. Several lap robes were tied. Quilting and painting quilt blocks were also done. Dr. Thomas Rose, Richfield donated $50.00 to help with the cost of the lap robes that are donated to the care centers, baby quilts fix' the nursery and other people who are sick. Individuals selected to reprewnt the cooperative are Nikki Bell and Jody Sorenson, Koosharem; Joyce Ott, Tropic; Elizabeth Black, and Shu lee Jessop, Culurado City, Ariz. ; Roshell Proctor, Panguittjh; David Barlow, and Race Ellett, Bicknell; Scott and Blackburn, Kerry Peterson, Loa and Trisha Coughlin and Matt Liston, Escalante. They were selected on a basis of written essays through Garkane 's Memurial Bunting "Tracy Scholarship Essay Coolest," Over $1,500 00 in scholarship money was given by Garkane to these students. The students will be part of a group of over 70 young people who will be representing rural electric cooperatives and public power cities from at least six states and sume 25 or more different high schools, They will have classwork on what a rural electric cooperative is and will form their own cooperative. They will learn about public power, electric safety, how electricity is generated, selected personal goals, careers in public power and motivauun. In addiUon they will lour a hydro power plant, dance, swim, eat and make many new friends. The seminar participants will lave an opportunity to compete for tJuuo in scholarships.
