In the 100 meter dash, Rebecca Johneon placed 4th, and in the 3J0 meur daiy, Johnson wai 2nd, while Selina Oro made the final. Lorie Taylor made the finala in the 400 meter daah. Krisy lUtch wee flth in the 1600 meter, and 3rd in the 3200 meter, Dani Susman wa 5th. The 400 meter relay team, eonaisting of Sandi Reynold. Saline Orao, Heather John and Rebecca Johnaon, placed 2nd. The Medley Relay team, Kerri Malmgren. Heather John, Kenalee Clover and Kriy Hatch, placed 2nd. The 1600 meter relay, Lorie Taylor, Sandi Reynolds. Ann Marie Jensen and Heather John placed 1st. and qualified for Slate. Sandi Reynolds took 1st and qualified for stale in the 100 meter hurdles, while Kenalee Glover placed 3rd. The 300 meter hurdles saw Kenalee Glover 1st, Sandi Reynolds, 3rd, and Ann Marie Jensen 4th. All All three of these ladles qualified for state. Kenalee Glover took 2nd in the high jump. Dannell Black also made the finals in her competition. In the discus, Jonl Reynolds was 6th, and Reynolds and Ann Marie Jensen both qualified for state in the discus. Joni Reynolds placed 3rd in the shot, and qualified for state last week at Weber State. Kathy Glover was 3rd in the Javelin. The Ladiy Wolves brought home 25 medals. Three more qualifying meets are coming up, including the Juab l, Invitational, Aptil 26th, BYU May 2, and Regional competition May 10. Invita-tationa- student attends seminar or drugs.alcohol NS Tim Smith, student at North Sevier High School, was one of the delegates selected to attend the Governor's Youth Conference on Alcohol and Drugs, in Park City, April 9 and 10. Also attending from Sevier School District was Anna Hoover, of South Sevier Middle School, and Russ Hawks, adult representative. They were accompanied by Noreen Hammond, Education and Prevention Specialist from Central Utah & Drugs. Mental Health-AlcohThe purpose of the conference was to get ideas from all segments of the population about which services are needed to combat youth drug abuse. Tim Smith had done an excellent survey dealing with drinking and drug taking among secondary students in Sevier County, and he shared the results with the group. Some of the ideas which came out of the meeting were: encouraging judges to impose stiff er, maximum penalties in alcohol and drug cases; training more teachers in the state 2 Prevention Curriculum; hiring an additional counselor in each middle and high school to deal with drug issues and problems in the borne; building some adolescent drug treatment centers in areas of the state other than the Wasatch Front; and exploring the possibility of a Youth Center for drug free activities open to all youth in each community. Mrs. Bangerter represented the Governor at the final meeting, and promised to use the suggestions made by the group as the basis of her appeal to the legislature for 96 million for youth services related to alcohol and drugs. K-1- state meet Wednesday, April 16, the North Sevier High Track team was split, and a group attended the Beaver Meet. Blaine Hardy was 2nd in the HO High Hurdles, and 2nd in the 300 Intermediate Hurdles. Bruce Ivie was 3rd, and Troy Torgerson was 3rd in the 1600 Meter Run. Chuck Roberts placed 1st in the Pole Vault; Kevin Serrano was 2nd in the Discus; while Serrano placed 1st in the Shot Put, Chuck Roberts 3rd, and Shawn Williams was 4th. Tim Smith was 4 th in the Javelin. On April 18 and 19th, the team attended the two day West Jor- dan Invitational. Kimo Weaver was 2nd in the 110 Meter High Hurdles; Shane Harward was 2nd in the 400 Meter Dash; while Harward placed 2nd in the 800 Meter Run, John Shields was 6th. Steven Hatch was 5th, Jason Flora 6th in the 1600 Meter Run. Chris Marshall 6th in the 3200 Meter Run. Gaylan Springer took 3rd in the High Jump, while Kevin Serrano was 4th in the Shot Put. Brendon Bosshardt took top honors In the Javelin. The Mile Relay team took 2nd, including Gaylan Springer, Kimo Weaver, Wayne Hales, and Shane Harward. The 1600 Meter Medley Relay team was 5th: Kimo Weaver, Wayne Hales, Mike Hansen, and Mark Colby. Qualifying for the state meet are Shane Harward in the 40JL meter and 800 meter run; Gaylan Springer in the high jump; Brendon Bosshardt in the javelin and 1600 meter relay. WINNERS: Local judges More attend Seminar Several Judges within Sevier County recently attended a three day Judicial Seminar In Su George, April 10-1- Attending were Carl Mecham, of Monroe City Court, Thad Wasden, Salina City Court, H arold Brewer and Kent Nielsen, of the Sevier County Courts. The main subject of the seminar was small claims proceedings and new legislation affecting justice courts. Elections were held to place new officers over the Utah Justice of the Peace Association. Judge Thad Wasden was elected 4th Vice president, and Judge Kent Nielsen was as the Six County Regional Director. Gaylen Poulsen, Colorado, brought his mother Amelda home. She has been staying in Colorado for several months and we are surely glad to have her back in town. Diana Christensen is here for a few weeks to help her sister, Lori Dumas, get ready for a new baby. Diana is a nanny for a family in New Rochelle, New York, and she is really enjoying her job. She is the daughter of Carol and Sherman Christensen. Nina W estenskow and Zei Fant have been at the Dora Weller home. The brought Dora home to help her do a little spring cleaning both inside and out. Jay Bosshardt took his Webelo scouts on a hiking adventure up Redmond Canyon.
