She also visited at the home of Bishop and Mrs. Jim Jorgensen and Scott and Karen Nielsen. Sunday. In the morning they traveled to Richfield to attend the Regional Youth Fireside, where the guest speaker was Elder Paul H. Dunn. That evening they attended a fireside at the Salma Stake Center. Mr. and Mrs. Venoy Curtis traveled to Salt Lake to keep a medical appointment and to visit with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Severance, and children, of Sandy. The Kings have 8 children.' ll REDMOND NEWS Lisa Learning was in Salt Lake City this weekend to attend a bridal shower for Tim Blackburns fiancee. Tim is lisas nephew. She was also able to attend the mission homecoming report of her other nephew, Todd Blackburn, before returning to Redmond. Carla W ilkins spent from W through Friday in St. George attending Utah Municipal Treasurers Seminar. She was able to learn a lot, and felt it was well worth attending. Her mother, Meral Hansen, and three of her children, Kerri Jo, Danny and Chad, were able to go with her. Kami Wilkins, a student at Snow College, spent the weekend with her parents, Kendyl and Carla W ilkins and family. Ronnie Bosshardt took his scouts on an overnight camping trip Friday after school and all day Saturday. Lance Mickelsen, Ben Warren, Trent Mickelsen, Martin Jensen, Zeke Susman and Travis Bills really had a good time on the East Desert, near Copper Globe. The boys passed off some of their merit badges, or at least worked on passing them off before coming back. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Ashman attended graduation exercises at BYU Friday. Their grandson, Jon Ashman and their nephew, Derek Hafen, were among the graduates. After the ceremonies, they were guests at the Jon Ashman home for a luncheon. Saturday their children, Geny, Terry and Kay honored Merlin and Lyal at a Golden Wedding anniversary party held in the cultural hall of the Midvale 8th ward. Grandchildren, sisters, nieces and nephews were among the 50 guests. Visiting in the Redmond and Salina area, the Terry Ashman family of Merced, California, will stay in Utah until their son, Elder James Lee, enters the M.T.C. in Provo to prepare for his mission to Seville, Spain. Monday, Tammy Johnson hosted a birthday party for her son, Bartley. 23 little guests came to play games, open presents and have cake and ice cream before going home. It was a beautiful day for an outside party. Tuesday 60 students from the middle school took a field trip to Cedar City to view costumes from the Shakespearean Festival. The ward held its monthly Temple Day W ednesday evening. The Senior Citizens held their monthly social Thursday evening. Fern Peterson, Salina, gave a very entertaining book report on Trouble River. Lester Jensen took charge of the evening. Chad and Elaine Nelson served banana splits to all who attended. The Kitchen Band will be playing at the Heritage Festival Thursday to be held at the Youth Center in Richfield. Thursday they played for some of the Senior Citizens as they were practicing dances for the Festival. Weekend visitors at the Von-tes- s Jensen home ' were her daughter and husband, Hal and Lorene Barker, Salt Lake City. Girls Day was held at the High School Thursday afternoon. Many girls and their mothers attended. The juniors modeled their formals and light refreshments were served. Brice and Susanne Mickelsen, Springville, visited with UDell and LouGene Johnson Saturday. They also came to get Rhea Mickelsen, who has spent a few weeks with the Johnsons. PTA OFFICERS: New officers for the school year for the North Sevier Middle School, include: from left. Then all enjoyed a sleepover at her house. Andy Tuft celebrated his birthday April 17, as he turned 11 years old. He invited guests for a scavenger hunt, movie and supper. Amanda Tuft celebrated her 8th birthday, Sunday April 20th. Saturday morning at 9 a.m. everyone is asked to meet at the Town Hall to help with three projects. The first is the ball park, which will need painting and raking. The second is the south entrance to town, where weeds will be burned and garbage picked up. The third project involves picking up debris along the town streets. Participants will then meet back at the Bowery for sloppy joes and pot luck. The Town has been divided into four sections for food assignments. All those in the Northwest section are asked to bring a dessert. The Northeast section is to bring a salad; southeast section will furnish potato chips; and the southwest will furnish one gallon of punch. After lunch a drawing for small gardening items donated by local businesses will be held. Everyone is urged to come out Saturday and help with Redmonds Town Clean up Day. i The Utah Taxpayers Association, which represents businesses, wants you to sign a petition. They say it wjjcut your taxes. Yes, the petition will cut taxes for businesses. It appears that homeowners in most counties would not get a property tax break and that businesses will. Many homeowners could find themselves paying higher taxes on their homes. Nobody can say with certainty what this complicated initiative would do. Thats why were asking for an attorney generals opinion on the legal questions and an impact study on how it would affect all taxpayers. Until we get that information, ask yourself this question: Will I be signing up for higher taxes if I put my name on a petition?
