Show 18 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah pend the week Thursday, December 30, 1976 Porry Pulso Holiday parties, family gatherings, young folks home, highlighted Yule by Mrs. Mm Nelaen Well we didnt get our white Christmas", much to the disappointment of many, but for those who traveled this past weekend it was a beautiful, sunny, warm Christmas day. Holiday parties, family gatherings and young people home from college were the highlights of the past week 'which was climaxed on Christmas day. The residents of Perry received a special treat last Wednesday evening when they gath-ere- e at the school for the traditional town party. They were greeted by the students of the kindergarten and first grade classes who presented a medley of Christmas numbers led by their teachers, Mrs. Ilene Tucker and Mrs. Marie Johnson. Mrs. Virginia Eskelsens second grade class presented their version of "The Night Before Christmas. and then the three classes presented several more musical numbers. They were accompanied by Mrs. Joycle Poulsen. Mitsi Nelson then gave a reading of just how much fun mothers have at Christmas time. Large Gathering Mrs. Nola Young and Mrs, Joycle Poulsen then led the large gathering in Christmas carols as Santa made his appearance. Santa then danced with many of those in attendance and took some last minute, orders from the children as he assisted in passing out sacks of candy and nuts. The town party was under the direction of Mr. and Mrs, Roger Nelson this year and they were assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Roger Jacobsen, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kunxier, Dave Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Nelson, Neldon Nielsen afnd Don Andrus. A special thanks goes to all Carla Nelson of Pleasant View. A Nelson family Christmas party was held on Christmas Eve at the home of Boyd Nelson in Willard. Supper was served to S3 family members in attendance with a special visit from Santa later in the evening. He passes out a treat to ail the boys and girls. those who helped in making this such a fun evening for the families of Perry. The students of the Perry school learned of the true meaning of Christmas through sharing this year. Each class enjoyed singing Christmas carols and presenting a small Christmas token to members of the community. Over thirty homes were visited by the classes as they were assisted by their teachers and room mothers. This was a thrilling experience for the young boys and girls, as well as those who dont often have the opportunity to share in the energetic activities of youth. Members Attending Family members attending from Perry were Mrs. Hazel Nelson, Joe and Wanda Sebek, Bob and Bonnie Nelson and family and Grant and Janice Johnson ahd daughters. Boyd and Beverly Nelson and family, Dennis and Judy Nelson and family and Randy and Patti Nelson and family of Willard; Russ and Louise Nelson and sons, Wendy and Keith Davis of Riverdale; Joan and DeLoy Nielsen and daughters of Bountiful; Susan and Keen Lerch and daughter of Norfolk, Nebraska; Ronda Nelson of Salt Lake; Gloria and Marion Hyde and family and Christine Chatterton and son all of Logan completed those attending. . For Lunch The boys and girls then returned to the school for lunch and the afternoon was spent in seeing a film. The youth of the Perry First ward Aaronic Priesthood and Young Women spent last Tuesday evening caroling to each of the homes in the ward. As they went they delivered the bishopric Christmas card and plate of homemade candy. They then returned to the church for hot Susan and Keen Lerch and chocolate and donuts. The Jamses Nelson family daughter Kym left on Sunday to party was held last Monday' return to their home in Nebraska following a weeks visit at the evening at the Deraid Waters home in Brigham City. The home of Susan's parents, Joe family members gathered to and Wanda Sebek. They flew out to spend the Christmas enjoy an evening which included supper, exchanging of gifts, holiday with family members. A number of college students and a good visit with one and young people living away another. Those in attendance were from home were home for the Mm and Lois Nehon, Reese,' Christmas holiday. Home to spend the holidays Lisa, Pam, Raquel and Emily; and Don and Myrna Ellis, all of with their parents Earl and Eva Brigham City; Tom and Rene Young were Stan Young of Bailey and John, Howard and Corvallis, Oregon and Kathy T.J. of Corinne; and Mickle and Young of Salt Lake. Their traditional Christmas Eve Supper was enjoyed and then gifts were exchanged between grandma and grandpa and their grand- n Holidays at Heme Kevin Andreason spent the holidays at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kilburn. Kevin is a member of the Armed Forces. Cindy Dinsdale spent the Christmas holidays with her family, the Tom Dinsdales. Cindy is a student at Ricks college in Rexburg. Jill Williams was at home with her family, the Clair Williams. Jill attends USU in Logan. Susan and Mary Valcarce were home from Weber State college. They are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John Valcarce. On Monday evening, Dec. 20 a Christmas family night was held at the Perry ward cultural hall for the decendants of Hans and Bessie Knudson with 65 members in attendance. K. Beverly and Chad Johnson were home for the Christmas holiday season between quarters at Utah State university in Logan. They are the son and daughter of Curtis and Toss Johnson. Harvey Higgs spent the past weekend with his family in Perry from his studies at the University of Utah in Salt lake. Dorene Wagstaff was also a visitor in Perry from her home in Salt Lake. She visited with family members and stayed at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wagstaff. iiAt home from Weber State college in Ogden was Cori Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Young,- and Meri-lynWalker, daughter of.?Mr. and Mrs. Reed Walker. i Terry Weight was home from his studies at BYU in Provo and Steve Weight was home frqm Utah State university in Logan. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Aldous Weight. - V. " ments. i, Guests were served a roast dinner while they were seated at tables decorated with individual family Christmas trees. Games were played and Santa made his annual visit, delighting the young people with treats from his large pack thrown over his back. Eight of 11 sons and daughters of Hans and Bessie Knud-se- n were in attendance: LaDine Christensen from Perry, Gladys Phelps and Blanche Norton from Salt Lake, Ruth Ellsworth from Pleasant Grove, Edna Bell and Gffen Knudsen from Brigham City. They all sang a Danish favorite song of their father's, Ten. Other Christmas songs were sung bringing to a close a delightful family home evening. As we just about finish our Christmas news I would like to take a pause and extend my most sincerest wishes to all the readers of the Perry Pulse for a most Happy New Year. A year filled with happiness and prosperity for everyone. The Perry First ward Sunday school officers and teachers and their partners enjoyed a holiday party on Thursday evening in the ward cultural hall. Those who attended enjoyed a potluck dinner and games. Jack Francis was in charge of the activities and a good time was reported by those attending. TEN YEARS AGO IN PERRY . . .Dec. 29, 1966 Miss Kathy Francis and Miss Diane Glausers Sunday school class held a Christmas party, Friday, Dec. 23. When they arrived they enjoyed caroling to residents of Perry. Later they all met at the Glauser home for . FINALIZING PLANS for the Brigham City South stake New Year's Eve dance are 1 Nielsen, Bill Hall and Kristine Searle. Now its time to get ready for the New Year celebration! This past couple of months have been quite hectic for most of us. Wont it be nice to relax after next Sunday? Then the new year starts all over again with resolutions and new beginnings and well all wonder how we ever thought that the last year was busy compared to the one were in. The Dec. 24 was spent celebrating a birthday party at the Scott Goodliffe home. Their son Ryan celebrated his birthday with his friends and family.' Those that came to enjoy this special time was Jeri Jensen, Brandon Iverson, Bret and Justin Iverson, Justin Burt, Carley Chido, Shane Holmgren, Jason Huggins and Angie Iverson. Playing Games They all enjoyed playing games, then they were treated to lunch. Then Ryan got to open the many gifts that his little friends brought to him. They had a very nice time celebrating his special day with him. The senior citizens dinner and the young peoples dance was held last week for all those interested in attending. The senior citizens dinner is under the direction of Dell and Phyllis Holmgren. They also have a committee that works with them and it consists of Byron and Olive Weidman, Theil and Ethel Johnsen, Norm and Louise Childs and Lindy and Merle Holmgren. They served a very nice dinner to those who attended and then they had a program for them.Those on the program were, The Sextet, Theil Johnsen sang, and Tammy Schmidt and the girls that she teaches in her baton class performed a few numbers. Santa then came and greeted each guest and gave each a treat to take home. They all had a very lovely time while there. I think that this committee deserve a big Thank You for all the work that they put into this night! Childrens Dance The childrens dance was held shortly after the dinner for all the young folk in town. They had a musical group that played for them while they danced and had fun. When the dance had gone on for about an hour there came a very special visitor for all the young people that attended. Santa visited with each one and handed out a sack of goodies to each as he visited with them. They all enjoyed the night greatly, and if it went in other families like it did in mine, it also made the kids all the more enthused for that big night. The Golden Spike Young Homemakers held a luncheon for members on Monday after-- , noon. They served a lovely meal and then they discussed different items of interest of the v , group. They are now having a membership drive for the coming year. If anyone is at all interested in finding out more about this great club they are invited to contact Mrs. Louise Check-ette- s or Mrs. Bette at Dallln at This club invites all ages of women, as long as they are homemakers, from Bear River, Corinne and Honeyville to join. Its a very fun and educational club to belong to. They meet just once a month, on the third Monday of each month so that its not hard to take the time out to attend. Mrs. Merle Meadows, Mark Meadows and Daren Meadows of Granger, and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Christensen and children of town left Christmas morning to travel to Georgetown, Idaho to attend a family party. There they spent the day with Karens relatives and friends of the family. Airport Manager John Weir reported a burglary at the airport office to Brigham City police Monday. Weir said tools, speakers and some cash from a QQ 279-82- 270-839- 2. Served Dinner .They were served a very lovely dinner and had a nice time visiting. They then traveled home. Mark spent the night and attended church the next day. He then brought a friend to dinner at the Christensens home. He traveled home that afternoon. They all had a very nice time during the weekend and the weather, as usual, this winter cooperated with the trip. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Yates. They brought a new little girl into the world on Christmas day! Mrs. Yates is the former Carolyn Childs. The little miss weighed in at six pounds and eight ounces and they are thinking of naming her Jessica Lynn, though they arent quite sure as of yet. They have one other child at home, Joshua. Caroiyn is in the Tremonton hospital and will stay at her parents, Mr. and during Sacrament meeting. They will be leaving soon for their mission. We are all wishing them the best of luck on their mission. were on the subject of missions, we have a return missionary this week in our Welcome back Kendall Julander. Were glad to have you home! Kendall is the son of the late Von Julander and Mrs. Julander. town. House Full Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus (Raf) Christensen had quite a house full for the Christmas season. Their whole family came to visit and celebrate the holiday with them. They came up from Salt Lake to spend the time with them. They have a real nice travel trailer that they parked in front to live in. They all had a very joyous time visiting and celebrating. The Chester Christensen famiy got together for its annual Christmas party on Christmas Eve. They were served a very nice dinner and then they all visited and played games until a special visitor arrived from the North Pole to talk to the kids. They then exchanged gifts and visited some more before packing up their belongings and heading home. Those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Christensen and children Bryan, Jacki, Kirk, and Jill, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Daliin and boys Jeff and Chris, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Hansen and children Kyle and Stacey, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Christensen and children Alan and Gina, Kent Christensen, Ray Gonzolas and Ed Brangel. There will be a New Years Eve Dance held at the stake center on New Years eve. If any of you have your tree down before then contact Beth Oyler or Leon Jensen. They would like to use them for decorations for this dance! I saw that Robbie Upscomb has returned from the hospital. Were glad to have him back.
