Brigham City BPW members are joining with state and national affiliates in celebrating National Business Womens Week during this week, with celebrations planned on the state, district and local levels. Kickoff banquet for the event was held on Oct. 16 at the Hilton Hotel in Salt Lake City, where tive issues, and will feature some of the candidates for public office as special guests. The proclamation signed by Mayor Felt noted that working women constitute 26 million of the nations working force striving to serve their communities, states and nations in civic and cultural programs. River Chapter of Utah Young Homemakers met at. the Bear River High School for their October meeting. Dr. Vaughn Mendenhall from Utah State University in Logan was the keynote speaker. He gave an interesting and informative discussion on Food Safety. He told of necessary ways to care for food to prevent food spoilage. He stressed the care to be taken in home canning and buying and warned the homemakers to use the correct amount of time in processing. The Bear River chapter of Utah Young Homemakers have a quilt at the Senior Center in Tremonton and invite all members to participate in helping to complete it as quickly as possible. This is a service project and the quilt will be given away later on during the year. Girls who have just completed their junior year in high attend the Girls State session, returning to their high schools in the fall. Since those attending there are leaders in school and organizations, they are then expected to help educate their schoolmates in the ideas of democracy. While at Girls State, the girls participate in the election process along with learning the basic beliefs of their country and appreciation of the American system. During the 1976 session, the delegates from Box Elder High school held a variety of postions on the city, county, and state levels with the major positions Mr. and Mrs. David W. Tanton of Brigham City announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Debbie to Darril Helquist, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd L. Helquist of Brigham City. The couple has set Nov. 6 as their wedding date, with the ceremony to be performed in the Brigham City South stake center . A reception honoring the couple will follow the ceremony. Miss Tanton is a graduate of Bonneville High school in Ogden and is now attending Weber State college majoring in cosmetology. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Box Elder High school and has attended Weber State college. He served an LDS mission in Pennsylvania, and is now locally employed.
