These girls made the presentation of a batch of cookies prepared by them and a Thanksgiving card. MAYOR Foreign language teachers at BEJH (This is the next in a series of articles introducing members the faculty at Box Elder Junior High school. Todays focus is on the foreign language department.) Elvin Mithcell, foreign languages department head, graduated from Utah State university, majoring in American history, political science, and German. He spent 2Vi years in Switzerland and Austria prior to his completing his college training. Besides his busy schedule of teaching German, American history, physical education, and English, Mitchell has spent 25 yers as an'active scouter. "The purpose of the study of foreign language in junior high is to acquaint students with the basic skills of reading, and speaking a foreign language. "Our junior high is one of the few schools in the country which has a growing foreign language program. There are over 50 percent of our students taking a foreign language. We have received national recognition for this, Mithcell explained. Brigham City public schools and from Uiah State university, majoring in physical education and Spanish. He lived in Mexico for two years prior to finishing college work. He teaches first year Spanish and seventh grade science. He enjoys participating in all kinds of sports. John Madsen John Madsen graduated from San Lorenzo, Calif., public schools and from Brigham Young university. He majored in Spanish and history, doing graduate work in Spanish and French. He lived in Urguay for two years prior to his college graduation. He teaches first year Spanish and first and second year French. His hobbies include music, sports and camp WISDOM is. giving to the March of Dimes Tremonton native, Dr. W. Kerr, has been named president of Dixie Junior college in St. George. He was appointed to the post by the Utah State Board of Regents this past week. Kerr, 41, an assistant to the president for university relations at Utah State university, will succeed Dr. Ferron C. Losee as administrator at Dixie. Dr. Losee will retire in June 30, 1976, capping a career that included 11 years as president of the St. George school. Dr. Kerr was selected from among nearly 200 administrators who applied for the job. In addition to assisting USU President Glen L. Taggart for the past five years, Dr. Kerr has been an assistant professor of educational administration at Utah State. A native of Tremonton and graduate of Bear River High school, Dr. Kerr holds masters and bachelors degrees from USU where he was studentbody president and quarterback of the football team. He earned a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Utah in 1970. The new college president also has served as assistant to the president and dean of students at the University of Utah, dean of men at Weber State college and coordinator of student government at USU. defects ore forever.
