She was the recipient of the John Phillip Sousa award for outmusic instrumental standing achievement. Beat egg yolks until lemon color, add Vi of sugar and the vanilla. Beat well. Beat egg whites until light and add other half of sugar and salt. Sift flour and b.p. 4 or 5 times. Add egg yolk mixture to whites and cut and fold together. Add sifted dry ingredients a little at a time and cut and fold until blended. Pour mixture onto large cookie sheet lined with wax paper. 0 min. Bake at 325 degrees While jelly roll is hot, roll in dry towel with damp cloth on outside. When cool, unroll and fill with jelly.
