Awards were presented by General Manager-Vic- e President of the Continental Telephone Company of Utah. Grant Callister to Sheldon Cannon for 20 years of service as district in manager Tremonton, to Maurice Staples for serving as district engineer for 15 years, to Myrna Loy Rogers for 10 years of service as engineering clerk and Wes Baer (of Providence) for 10 years as district plant supervisor. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Muir and three daughters and one son of Mendon furnished a delightful musical program. Special guests were Jim Moriffise and Bob Kenny of Phoenix, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Waldron, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Leak and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brown. Visiting Dr. and Mrs. LaMar Harris this week are their George Moench of Whitewater, Wis., and Mrs. Harris cousin Mrs. Harold Ahlsteadt of Franklin Park, 111. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Rogers and Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Rytting left Tuesday morning for Mesa, Ariz., to spend the Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers will visit their son and daughter-in-law- , Mr. and Mrs. Joe Toland and family and their daughter, Mrs. Karla Wilkins and family. The Ryttings will visit their and daughter. Dr. and Mrs. Owen J. Jones and family. The Tremonton Bridge Club met with Mrs. Mary Nelson as hostess Thursday evening. A light luncheon was served. Christmas gifts were exchanged. A sketch of the musical Call Me Madam by Irving Berlin was presented by three ladies from Brigham City. Charlene Dunn was the soloist, Helen Lemon, the accompanist and Kathy Bradford the narrator. The banquet room was attractively decorated in a holiday theme. Approximately 80 attended. A Christmas party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Richins and family in Ogden Monday evening. Attending from this area were Mrs. Grace Hales, Mr. and Mrs. Bevan Hales and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mont Rose and family of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Allen and family of Beaver Dam. They joined other members of the family. Gifts were exchanged, a social enjoyed and light refreshments served. S.S. rep in town Dec. 19 Spending ths weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Hess were Bonnie Campbell of Bountiful and Delerie Hess, a student at USU in Logan. Mrs. Cleo Hales and daughter Robyn spent Saturday in Ogden where they attended a breakfast party along with Santa Claus at Z.C.M.I. The North Park Elementary school will hold their Christmas party this morning (Thursday) for students and during the afternoon for parents of those having students at North Park. A program will be presented. Mrs. Lynette Taylor entertained at a party at her home Friday for her little daughter Laurel who was 7 years old. Fifteen little girl friends enjoyed an afternoon of games. Spencer Stokes of Bothwell performed some magic tricks. A light luncheon was served. Laurel received many nice gifts. Happiness President and Mrs. Gerald Simmons, President and Mrs. Richard Harris, President and Mrs. Ward Taylor brought happiness to the homes of former President and Mrs. George Ficklin, President and Mrs. Reese Mason and President and Mrs. Deloris Stokes Saturday evening when they called at each of the three homes and presented each of the men with the chair they had used while serving in the Tremonton Stake Presidency for the past 172 years. , When the stake center was remodeled these chairs were no new The used. longer presidency had the name and date each man had served engraved on a gold plate attached to the back of the chair. The Bear River State Bank held their Christmas party for the Board of Directors and their partners, the employees and their partners at Sherwood Hills in Sardine canyon Thursday evening. Jim Brown was in charge of the program and introduced Mrs. Virginia Checketts of Brigham City who favored with vocal solos accompanying hsrself on her guitar. Wayne Sandall presented each of the employees with cash prizes and each of the ladies with a gift. Approximately 56 attended. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shumway home returned Tuesday evening after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Reed Hunter anf family in Berkeley, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Larson in Burbank. The Bear River High school faculty along with their partners enjoyed a Christmas dinner party at Chases Charcoal House Friday evening under the direction of Mrs. Williams. ApFarrell proximately 46 attended. Centerpiece prizes went to Robert Jensen, Mrs. Don Stenquist, Mrs. Brent Johnson and Mrs. Duane Archibald. In lieu of exchanging Christmas gifts each couple contributed $2. Don Fisher, faculty member will send the amount contributed to the Dan Valentine Christmas fund in care of the Salt Lake Tribune who in turn will send it to the American Fork Training school for their Christmas Project fund to help brighten Christmas for the mentally retarded. Arriving from Rupert, Idaho, to spend the holidays visiting Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Williams and family is Mrs. Williams mothsr, Mrs. Ed Hills. Paul Puzey and daughter Kathy of Roy spent Thursday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Garland Puzey. The V.G.F. Club met at the -v ' a j 1 of Mrs. George Ficklin Monday evening for their Christmas party. A delicious luncheon was enjoyed, gifts exchanged and the evening spent in doing various kinds of handiwork. Tremonton-Garlan- d The Bridge Club held a Christmas buffet party at the home of Mrs. Mildred Shumway Tuesday evening. Gifts were exchanged and bridge played. home Large Crowd large crowd from this area attended the annual Box Elder Chapter of the University of Utah Alumni association dinner held at the Union Building on the Logan USU campus last week. A basketball game followed held at the Spectrum. Newly elected officers for the alumni association are Don Potter of Tremonton, president; Robert Morgan of Willard, and Mrs. Joan Stokes of Tremonton, secretary. The First Security Bank held their Christmas party along with their partners at Bowcutt ''it v V entertainment. Brunson The popular Brothers of Kaysville presented a musical program. The boys range in ages from 12 to 18. Carma Archibald gave an original reading which included something clever about each of the employees at the bank. A delicious dinner was served to thirty employees and guests. A homecoming testimonial was held in the Tremonton 6th ward Sunday evening honoring Elder Darrel Hyde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Hyde who has just fulfilled an LDS mission in California-Oaklan- the meeting an at the Hyde home for friends and relatives to welcome Darrel back home. Among those from were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Pendleton of Bountiful, Mr. and Mrs. Oleen Hyde of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Hyde and family of Brigham City. The Pendeltons were overnight guests at the Hyde home. Among those who attended the wedding and reception for Miss Susan Bartholomew who became the bride of Terry Johnson in rites performed in the Heritage House in Salt Lake City Dec. 10 were the brides grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Deakin, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Deakin and family, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Harris, Dr. and Mrs. D.B. Green, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Fillmore of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Smith and family of Fielding, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris of Portage. He is Gary Wetzel who takes impressive credentials with him into the job. Wetzel recently completed a radiator training course and for the past year has been employed at another local garage, engaged in work on used cars. A Christmas party for officers and teachers of the 4th ward Primary and their partners was held at the Civic Center Friday evening. Committee chairman for the evenings entertainment, were Jean Nielsen, Kathy Potter, Ute Holmgren and Mary Christensen. A delicious roast beef dinner with all the trimmings was enjoyed.
