Show 20 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Plymouth Ponderings Thursday, December 19, 1974 Couple attends party Buzzing Bear River First liaptist Husband's job benefits wife; she gets to travel by Senneth Hawkes Mrs. DeWayne Julander has from benefited certanly DeWaynes recent promotions at his job. She is allowed to go with him when he goes out of town. For example last Monday they flew from Salt Lake to Victoria, British Colombia, where they spent a week. Joyce reported they must have seen everything there was to see in that area and had a wonderful time. Mr. and Mrs. Von Julander took care of DeWayne and Joyces children while they were gone. Visitors at the Von Julander home Sunday was their son Kendall and his friend Mark Anderson from Heber. These boys both enter the mission Jan. 4. home Edna Christensen of Brigham City spent the wekend with her son and family, Chester and Bessie Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Anderson received news Dec. 10 that they had a new granddaughter which makes five grandchildren for them. The child was born to Mr. and Mrs. Terry Neiderhauser (Erma). Pearl Ohman, who is now Promontory Snow gives trouble by Doris Flint Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Promontory. with Everyone is busy Christmas decroations, parties, shopping and all the plans and preparations of Christmas. Mother Nature added to the appearance with from four to six inches of snow Friday. The some snow fall created problems for people of the area. They had trouble getting out of their driveways at first. The roads are icy and slightly hazardous driving. Browns Jay and sister husband, Caroline and Russell Stuart of Nephi and neice, Helen Barnes of Texas visited him Thursday. The Relief society held a Christmas party Saturday program of the feeling, smelling, seeing and was Christmas hearing presented. Dennis Poulsen sang "White Christmas. He acA evening. companied himself guitar. Robinette Paulena the on sang "Christmas Lullaby. She was accompanied by Lori Nicholas on the piano. Lori Nicholas told the story of Christmas. The program was concluded with the singing of Christmas carols by the congregation. A delicious dinner with turkey and all the trimmings was served. Gifts were exchanged to complete the evening. At the work meeting in Relief society they made Christmas decorations out of egg flats. They were trimmed with red ribbon. The flats were first sprayed with gold, trimmed and various other decorations added to make a lovely Christmas center piece. gfitEBSaCSKBKEHBaiBaCBg&S 8 In time for Christmos Regular Meeting The local chapter of the DUP held their regular meeting and their Christmas party at the home of Myrtle Anderson Dec. 13. A hot pot luck lunch was served and was followed by the lesson given by Lula Clayson and then Mary Anderson led the group in singing carols. Fifteen members were present and the ladies exchanged gifts. High Priest party was held Saturday evening in honor of Mr. Mrs. and Chester Christensen who will enter the mission home in January before going to serve six months in the mission field. The program was conducted by Roger Hendrickson and consisted of the quartet by Roy Breagger, Clair Anderson, Vay Jensen and Vernon Johnsen. Janice Holmgren presented two piano numbers. Nola Nessler paid a tribute to Mrs. Christensen and Vernon Johnsen paid tribute to Mr. Christensen. Mrs. Roy Breagger recited a poem for the occasion. A book was presented to the couple by Mr. Ronald Leonard. The crowd enjoyed a hot dinner before the program. Everyone wished the Christensens good luck. Wanda Johnsen was in charge of the event but she was unable to attend because she was in the hospital undergoing some tests. were The Christensens unexpectedly surprised as they were getting their coats on to go home after the party their son Kent met them at the door. He received a surprise furlough from his base in North Carolina where he was to report for duty after Christmas. The entire Christensen family presented the Sunday evening testimonial services. Bessie, Chester, Bob, Betty, their Karen and their Karen and all talked and the evening and spent the night with his mother and left for home Monday morning. Karen Hardy Iverson was taken to the hospital Saturday evening for an emergency appedectomy. She is improving nicely. Erin Hardy, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hardy is having a hernia operation this Tuesday morning. We hope he fares well. Mrs. LeGrand Peterson had foot surgery last week in the McKay-Dehospital and is improving slowly. Boyd and Wanda Christensen and their daughter Laurie, Mr. and Mrs. Barry Christensen and three children all of Roy spent Sunday afternoon with their mother and grandmother, Ida Christensen. This was the early Christmas and gifts were exchanged. Ken Paskett returned from the hospital Friday after another stay and is feeling much better this time. e Christmas Party The Mario Checketts family presented the Sunday evening Christmas program at the Deweyville ward. Mario sang a solo, Melba gave a musical reading accompnaied by Margo on the organ, Margo presented a piano solo, Kim gave a talk and a Christmas story. Pauline Leonards mother Mrs. Rilda Kilpack has been spending some time with the Leonard following a slight stroke. She spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Anderson before going back to the Leonards. It might be well for people in town to be careful. A prowler and windowpeeker has been reported in our neighborhood. We thought maybe you would like to be made aware of the fact. Cindey Misrasi spent Sunday afternoon visiting with Mrs. Boyd Hawkes. Mrs. Frank Garnder has been taking a training course at the IRS offices in Ogden prior to going to work for them. daughter-in-la- Barker DeVerl returned home Wednesday from recent surgery only to be rushed back to the hospital on Friday with a bloodclot on his lung. Right now he is still a very sick man. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Carter Iverson had a dinner party at their home Saturday evening. Among their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Verl Iverson of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Bingham of Honeyville, Mrs. Scott Spittler of Brigha, Mrs. Robert Silva of Lava Hot Springs and Mrs. Boyd Hawkes. returned Wilda Nickolas home from the Logan hospital after having surgery. She seems to be getting along alright. Thursday afternoon Dewey Ramsdell was taken to the Tremonton hospital with a mild heart attack. Mrs. Ramsdell reports he is just fine now and that he got to he hospital early enough to prevent much damage. Mike Ramsdell of Salt Lake visited with Dewey Sunday St. HicliaH'ft Fpittropak There will be a celebration of Holy Communion on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 9:30 a.m. in honor of St. Thomas, the Apostle. , Sunday, Dec. 22, is the fourth Sunday of Advent and the final candle of the season will be lighted at the 11 00 o'clock Holy Communion service. We now enter the Blessed Season of Christmas. Celebration of the Christmas Eve Mass of the Nativity of our Lord is scheduled at 9 p.m. Tuesday. Dec. 24. The nursery will be available for small children during the service. Thursday, Dec. 26, is the Feast of St. Stephen, Deacon and Martyr, and will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Holy Communion service. Friday, Dec. 27, is the patronal Fest of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Logan. The Reverend William J. Hannifin will celebrate Holy Communion at St. Joh's in Logan Friday evening. Saturday, Dec. 28, the Feast of the Holy Innocents. Rev. John Lundblad, pastor of the congregation, will preach on A Light in the the theme, Darkness with reference to the message of the birth of Christ as the light of the world. The service is designed as a family service, with singing and readings which even young children can enjoy. The service will begin with a musical prelude, with special vocal and instrumental music to set the mood of the evening's worship. The sanctuary Chrismon Tree will be the central decoration, surrounded by the poinsettias of Christmas. The Christmas message is being taught daily at present in a Bible school for little children of preschool age. Linda Haak and Linda Beckner of the Protestant Center are con- ducting this school, with about 20 children enrolled. Along with his many other responsibilities Ward leads in the student work the colleges and among universities of this area. The men of the church will be leading in the service at the Rescue Mission in Ogden, this Monday, Dec. 23. They will leave from the church at 6:25. The Youth church training group will meet at the chapel this Sunday evening at the 6:30 hour and return to the church for the Worship service.
