Show BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, had some remarkable improvements. Mrs. Vinnie Kunzler has been here from Park Valley for a few days visiting with her daugher Kenna and and Merlip Tanner and family. On Friday Kenna took Dell and Ella Tanner and Mrs. Kunzler to Burley. Ella went for medical appointments. Utah Thursday, October 10, 1974 son-in-la- Grouse Creek News Steven Ford leaves Tanner ranch here by Marge Thompson It seems that we can always find something to complain about. While everyone else had rain this week, we had barely a sprinkle. And now the weather has turned cold. And yet Autumn is a beautiful time of year with much to look forward to. Steven Ford and his security men left Tuesday to go back to Tremonton for a couple of days. From there they went to Montana where Steve will be working on a ranch this year. On Sunday Bill and Mary Thomas hosted a cookout at Baty. They cooked a delicious chicken dinner in dutch ovens with all the trimmings served. Guests were Steven Ford and his men. Max and Melissa Tanner, Duane and Vivian Thomas, Jeff and Jodi, Wallace Betteridge, Ray Roberts and a friend from Montello, Gregg Kawaguchi of Clearfield and Reese Castellana of Ogden. Gregg is Vivians brother and he and his friend spent the weekend with Duane and Vivian Thomas. They enjoyed the bird hunting also. Max and Melissa said that its quiet around their home now but they really did enjoy having Steven Ford and his friends with them. They now have their little granddaughter, Cissie Tanner, visiting with them. Randy and Brenda Kimber spent the weekend in Malta with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Baxter. They visited friends and relatives there. Bad news came from the Ray Kimbers. Mrs. Wilda Kimber is in the Ogden hospital suffering from a blood clot. Ray and David Kimber took her to Ogden Saturday. We hope all is well real soon and shell be able to return. Lynn and Diana Kimber were here from Ogden visiting his parents, Ivan and Raida Kimber. Richard and Joan Kimber, Terry and JoDi were also here from Brigham at their summer home. The telephones are in working order at Lucin Village now. Arthur Brothers has been here from Nevada working on the telephone system. Herbert Tanner celebrated his 70th birthday anniversary on Saturday. Eilene and Bob Torrey and children, Tammy, Ronda and Ryan, comes out from Brigham for the weekend. Audrey and Sheila Teeter of Oakley, George and Verna Mae Christensen and son, Bart, of Burley were also here to honor their father and grandfather. Marge and Hughie Thompson, Blair and Brian were also invited to the birthday dinner party. Jack Kimber and Norman Kimber were in Salt Lake Thursday to get supplies for the Coop. Stray Day After Simplot's men ride for cattle and have them all gathered at the ranch, they have a stray picking day. All neighbors are invited to come and look for any of their stray cattle. Jack and Mae Kennely are living on the (Carson) Simplot ranch now. Mrs. Kennely, Bobbi Blanthorn and Marsha Oman cooked dinner and served to all the visitors. The dinner guests were Dick Jones and Bill Jones from Almo, Clarence Elquist, Carl and Bud and Bruce Bedke from Goose Creek, Douglas, Sheldon, and Steven Richins from Riverside, Richard and Terry Kimber from Brigham, Jim Carter, the Simplot foreman, and also Tinker Hutchinson and Jess Hutchinson all from Malta, Idaho, Don Wilferth, and Charles Taylor Oren Kimber, Herb and Dell Tanner, Jodi and Bill Thomas, Bryan Blanthorn, Grouse Creek foreman and son Sammie, and Milton Oman of Grouse Creek. They will be shipping the cattle for the next couple of days. Carl Lorscheider of Brigham City has been in Grouse Creek for some time doing carpentry work on the school building. On Tuesday evening he was a dinner guest and stayed overnight at the home of Winfred and Olive Kimber. Bill Johns of Ogden spent from Wednesday to Sunday visiting with Emily Kimber and her mother, Annie Kimber. On Sunday Lyman and Eula Kimber joined them for dinner. A bus load, of 37 people including John Owens of the State school board, Donna Gordon, Kenneth Parritt, Wallace Christensen, and Deloris Stokes of the county board members, PTA officers, architects, Superintendent J.C. Haws, Morgan Hawks, Kleon Kerr, Richard Kimber. many of the district staff members, principals of the county schools and interested friends arrived in Grouse Creek at about 2:30 Wednesday. They came to visit our school along with other elementary; schools along their way. Here they met some of the Grouse Creek parents and Strike it rich Reservoir Dry the Etna Reservoir is practically empty with hardly enough water left to wade through, the banks were full of fishermen, during the weekend. Brad Dale Warburton, Warburton and Don Limb were here from Garland at their summer home during the weekend. Delrioy Kimber was also here from jSrigham catching up on some farm work. Val and Verna Richardson and family, Clark, Bruce, Todd, Ann, Brook and John came out from Bountiful and spent the weekend with Vernas parents, Olive and Winfred Kimber. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jackson and son of Tremonton area were here fishing Saturday. They were on their way to Nevada. Cleo Leeter of Yost and Reggie Tuter of Park Valley were here Thursday on county business. These.men all work for the road department. Alln Tanner spent the in Tremonton with weekend Don Tanner and his children. When David Kimber called his mother, Wilda Kimber, on Sunday he reported thut she was feeling much better. Mrs. Hattie Tanner returned home again Sunday after a visit in Salt Lake. She went back last weekend with Fae and Dean Patterson and family. During her visit in town she was an honored guest at a birthday party for her anniversary. She a had she said lovely celebration at the home of Eva and Dr. J.D. Mortenson and family in Salt Lake. Hattie had many of her family members there to honor her and she counted about 45 relatives present. Mervin and LaVerne Tanner and family came from Brigham, Monte and Virginia Tanner and family were there from Plain City, Fern and Jack Hutchins and family came from Ogden, Fae and Dean Patterson from and children were Kaysville. Eva Mortensen and Fern Hutchins brought their mother back home. Bob Bailey is home op a furlough from the army. He came to Grouse Creek to spend a few days with his aunt and uncle, Flo and John Gross and with Eldon Kimber. His parents, Bob and Clara Bailey live in Idaho Falls. Bob returns Although was teachers and a luncheon served to everyone. No Heat It was lucky for our visitors that they came before the weather changed. With no heat in the building as yet, the meeting might have been quite a chilly one, had it been a few days later. School had to start late Monday morning as the building ws just too cold. Don and' Mabel McDade of Lucin Village became grandparents for tlje first time on Wednesday. A little grand- daughter who will be named Marci Lynn, was born in Ogden to Terry and Joyce McDade of South Willard. The baby was born on the same day as her Mabels mother. On Sunday afternoon a family dinner was held to honor Mrs. Mabel Harrington Smith, who recently celebrated her 89th birthday anniversary. The dinner was held at the home of Harold iand LaRetta Smith. r, Other fahiily members at- tending wre Cliff and Marge Anderson, Charles and Maxine Pruitt, Don McDade and his mother, Fanny McDade all of Lucin, Irvin Smith of Contact, Nevada, Darrell and Colleen Anderson and three sons, Paul, Mark and Gary, of Roy. Charles and Maxine Pruitt and Don McDade were in Ogden Thursday visiting relatives. Mabel McDade is there with her new granddaughter, helping out. Cliff and Marge Anderson were hosts at the last Bible class and on Sunday the group from Lucin Village joined Dell and Elizabeth Pruitt at their home in Montello for the class. Frost ruined all the beautiful gardens in Lucin Saturday night. They had lovely gardens and flowers blooming in Lucin. LaRetta Smith says one of her banana squash measured 44 inches long and 34 inches around. Lucin Village has really 1946. (Edith) Christenseq and Mrs. Jack (Lottie) Roscoe of Salmon, Idaho; Mrs. Wallace (Mae) Redelings of Colville, Wash. Funeral services will be held Oct. 11 in California. Burial will be in Los Angeles. i Baltazar Thomas Airman Baltazar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred D. Baltazar, was cited for his exemplary conduct and duty performance. He is a security police specialist with the 341st Missile Security Squadron, a part Thomas Blackburn Olsen, 51, formerly of Brigham, died Oct. 7 of a brain tumor at his home in Panorama City, Calif. He was born April 20, 1923, in Brigham City, a son of Rupert P. and Genevieve Blackburn the of Strategic Air Command. The airman is a 1970 graduate of Box Elder High school in Ear-len- e Brigham City. His wife, of Mrs. , is the daughter Petronela A. Bird, 108 Olsen. He graduated from Box Elder seminary High school E. and-LD- Seventh St., Brigham City. in 1941. to Pennsylvania on Oct. 24 and then he will be sent to Frankfurt, Germany. He plans to train to become a veterinarian. On Wednesday Bob and Eldon went to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden on business. Floyd and Hazel Patterson of Oakley visited this week with the Harley Sanders family. Phyllis and Frank Bedke of Goose Creek stopped by to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Sanders, on Wednesday. They were on their way to Fallon, Nevada to visit Phylis grandparents. Reese and Irma Warburton and daughter, Rosemary, were in Logan Tuesday evening and were guests of Irmas parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Adams. They were keeping dental appointments. On 'Wednesday night they were overnight guests of Becky and Brian Burbank in Deweyville. The school students left by bus Friday to attend the Box Elder vs. Bear River football game. Some came home happy with the score, BR 21- - Box Elder 20, and a few were disappointed. All seemed to have had a good time. Randy and Brenda Kimber drove the bus. Lyman Kimber, Sharon Kimber and Marilyn Kimber, and the students from 5th through 10th grades enjoyed the trip. Jackie Kimber and Janet Blanthorn came back with the bus load then Janet drove them back to school in Tremonton on Sunday. Marilyn Kimber is working in Tremonton at the hospital and Gwen Kimber is employed at Snowville. Olsen B Thomas B.
