West, retiring director of the Utah State Institute of Fine Arts. The public is encouraged to attend the reception. Utah Painting 74 is a competitive art show for Utah artists sponsored by the Utah Institute of Fine Arts. There are 21 paintings in the collection from artists ranging in locality from Brigham City to Cedar City. A modern acrylic piece by Lynn Hone is the only local entry in the show. The exhibit was shown in the state capitol building through , the summer and will now go on tour, with Brigham Citys museum-gallerbeing the first appearance on the tour circuit. into y Weaving Exhibit Throughout the time of the reception visitors will have a chance to watch both a spinner and weaver at work, with Eleanor Coolidge, president of the Mary Meigs Atwater Weavers guild, demonstrating the art of weaving and Jan Gisler t&d Karen Richards of Xi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi looks over a painting by Lynn Hone, local artist, which is part of the statewide exhibit to open in the museum-gallerat a reception set for Saturday, Oct. 3, in Mrs. Coolidge sells some of her weavings, but most are for family and friends. She also does her own spinning and an exhibit of woven pieces will be on display throughout the month. A chart will show natural colors available from plants along with the demonstration of the two crafts.
