Christensen of Brigham City announce the engagement of their daughter Wendy to Mark D. Weiner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Weiner of Moorpark, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer K. Mortensen, of Bear River City, announce the marriage of their daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Mortensen to Gary Earl Elliott, son of Mrs. Myrleen Taylor and the late Grant Taylor of Roy. nJK They were married in Las Vegas, Nev., July 31 at The Little Church of the West. This picturesque marriage chapel, adjacent to the heart of the fabulous strip, is known as the wedding place of the stars since more celebraties have been married here than any other place in the world. Beulah Slagle . guest speaker Bowden family to hold reunion The Bowden family, William Bowden, Sr. and Grinney, will be holding a reunion on Aug. 11, in the North Ogden park. Activities will begin Sunday in the park bowery at 12 noon. Families attending are urged to bring their own lunch. Games, a program and bake sale will all be part of the get together. Everyone connected with the family is urged to attend. that salad and butter, beverages The Nifty Sifters The Nifty Sifters met at the home of their leader Elaine Nelson on July 25 for their 10th lesson. It was on Desserts to Crown the Meal. President Heidi Morrill welcomed all of us to Opening prayer was given by Trudie Nelson. Then president Morrill led us in the pledge. We then made a Cherry cobbler assisted by our Junior leader Teresa Nelson. While our cobbler was baking we exchanged some recipes where fruits are used for interesting desserts. While we ate our Cherry cobbler we talked about going to camp in a week. We will meet again on Tuesday July 30, to make our final plans for camp. Sheryl Liljenquist gave the closing prayer. Meeting dismissed at 11:30 a.m. singing and picking will be in order and all who play an instrument are accompaniment en- couraged to bring it along. Please your family by serving these recipes from Arlees file. TACO CASSEROLE (serves 12) Mix well: 1 lb. gr. beef and 1 c. Texture Vegetable Protein reconstituted. Brown with 1 chopped onion. Add 2 cans tomato sauce (8 oz) tsp. chili powder. Simmer. Line 9x13 pan with 6 corn tortillas, Cover with meat 2 mixture Layer with will Mrs. Leslie Laird . wanted small kitchen! CHERRY DESSERT pack graham crackers, y2 c. melted butter, 4 c. sugar. Mix well and place in 9 x 13 pan. Bake 10 min. Beat: 1 lg. pkg. cream cheese, 1 c. powdered sugar Whip: 1 pt. cream. Add: 2 T. sugar. Combine cheese and cream. Pour over crust. Prepare 1 qt. sour cherries as for pie filling (or use 1 can cherry pie filling) Pour over mixture. Chill. 1 CRAZY CAKE In ungreased 9 x 13 pan sift: c. sugar, 3 c. flour, 2 tsp. soda, y2 c. cocoa, 1 tsp. salt. Add: 2 c. cold water, 2 T. vinegar, s c. oil, 2 tsp. vanilla. Mix with fork. Bake at 375 degrees for 2 Two-third- 35 min. FLUFFY WHITE ICING 1 egg white, 34 c. sugar, y4 c. corn syrup, y4 tsp. cream of tartar, d c. boiling water, l2 tsp. vanilla. Mix egg white, sugar, c. syrup, and cream ot tartar together. Slowly add boiling water. Beat constantly. Add vanilla and beat until mixture stands in stiff peaks. One-thir- DELUXE APPLE PIE Melt: y2 lb. (28) caramels with y2 c. evap. milk. Sift: 3 c. flour, y4 c. sugar, iy2 tsp. salt. Cut in: y2 c. butter, Blend: l4 c. oil with 1 egg and l4 c. cold water Add to dry ingredients. Roll on ungreased 18 x 14 sheet of foil. Form rim Place on cookie sheet. FILLING Combine: 6 c. sliced apples. 1 c. sugar, d c. flour, 4 T. lemon juice. Place filling on pastry. Drizzle caramel mixture on strips. TOPPING Beat: 8 oz. cream cheese, egg, c. sugar Spoon topping between caramel sauce. d c. walnuts Sprinkle with min. (serves 15) Bake at 375 degrees for 1 One-thir- Miss Wendy Christensen and Mark D.
