The length of road to be constructed or improved is 0.48 miles, and the principal items of work are approximately as follows: Roadway excavation 2350 Yd3; Untreated Base Course 2500 tons; Bituminous Surface Course 2,000 tons. The project is to be completed in 45 working days. Prequalification of bidders is required. Prior to any bidder's and plans receiving specifications, it will be necessary that the bidder have on file with the State Road Commission of Utah completed and approved, the required Statement Prequalification pertaining to contractor's perience and financial ex- con- dition. The attention of bidders is directed to Special Provisions covering subletting or assigning the contract. In conformity with, and by authority of Title 34, Chapter 30, Utah Code Annotated 1953, the general prevailing rates as determined by the Industrial Commission of Utah shall be effective and apply to this project, and are the minimum wages to be paid on this project. These' rates are made a part of the contract documents. The attention of bidders is directed to the fact that contractors engaged in highway construction work are required to meet the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (52 Stat. 1060). Fiddlers compete in Idaho The 12th annual National Oldtime fiddlers contest and festival was held in Wieser, Idaho during the month of June and after the fiddling was over of Youngblood Dwayne Brigham City had taken eighth place among the national winners. The festival featured an estimated 240 fiddlers from all parts of the nation. Fiddlers reaching the finals were faced with playing 21 numbers all from memory accompanied by a neutral instrument such as a guitar. To reach the finalists play offs the fiddlers were required to play a waltz, hoedown and tune of their choice. National winners placing within the top 20 all received trophies and cash prizes. Horse association date overnight ride 5 An overnight trail ride sponsored by the Box Elder Horsemans association and club will be held July 27 and 28. Base camp will be at Dock Flat above Mantua. The ride will begin at 9 a.m. from the Dock Flat area. Items needed will include a sack lunch, water canteen and halter and tie rope for a horse.
