An estimated 216 motorcycle entries made up the field, many of them from Salt Lake Cuy, Ogden and American Fork in Utah and a scattering of others from California and Oregon. It was not a points event which made the turnout seem all the more impressive. At 7 p.m., Riverdale is hosted by Valley Both games will be played at American Bear River City park. The top two teams to emerge from the double elimination tournament will advance to a regional tournament in Willard, Aug. 5, with the winner of that tournament going on to the WBBA World Series. Valley Americans club is composed of players from Corinne, Bear River City, Honeyville and Harper Ward. Also on July 29, Willard and an all-stclub from the Brigham City Canyon league will meet in a tournament in Washington all-sta- all-star- rs s, all-sta- rs ar Terrace at 5 p.m. At 7 p.m., Bountiful will play Washington Terrace. The top two teams in that double elimination event will move to Willard on Aug. 5 for the right to go to the World Series in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on Aug. 14. Winners of the Washington Terrace event July 29 will meet each other at 7 p.m. and losers play losers at 5 p.m. At city pool 'Spike' Swim meet set here Aug. 3 2-- Brigham City will host the Golden Spike Invitational Swim meet on Aug. at the city pool, a local team spokesman said this week. The event is an annual attraction on the Intermountain AAU swim schedule. Inquiries have been received from teams in California, Illinois, Colorado and Hawaii and John Ensign, meet director, said he is looking for a large number of entries this year. Races will be conducted through the morning and into the afternoon each day and local residents are invited to view them without charge. Preliminaries will start at 9 a.m. and finals at about 4 p.m. As in past years, bleachers will be set up to give spectators a clear view of the acquatic action. A concession stand will operate for the sale of food both days. annual 3 age-grou- p Brigham City continued its hot streak in American Legion baseball play this past week, recording victories over Wellsville and Roy. The local Legion now has won eight of its last nine ball games and will be on the road this evening (Thursday) for a Contest at Layton. Game time is : 6 p.m. A crucial Friday night tilt is on tap at Rees Pioneer park with Smithfield. This is a pistrict One affair and with a victory, Brigham City 'could clinch the league title and a berth in the state American Legion tournament, starting : the fifth on an error and a passed ball. But Brigham City exploded for three more in the next frame on singles by John Conrad and Wood and a double by Mark Lyons who drove two men home. Jeff Williams was the winning hurler, holding the tough Roy club to two hits and striking out seven. Brigham City managed five hits off Roy starter Brent Winward and Clarke Smith who came on in relief in the sixth inning. The box scores: in Aug. 5. Over all winner for the girls competition, 11 years and under was Mitzi Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee M. Hansen.
