Show In Tremonton South State TaPs New Leaders BR Patriarch BR Named Sunday George C. Ficklin, out- standing church leader in Bear River valley, was ordained of the LDS Bear River South stake in Tremonton, Sunday, Feb. 25, by Apostle Marvin J. Ashton of Salt Lake City. Patriarch Ficklin has led an interesting and colorful life. He was born in Los Angeles, a son of George R. and Etta Powell Ficklin. As a small boy he moved with his parents to Sioux City, Iowa. He spent his boyhood in Council Bluffs where he was reared and educated. When he was 16 years of age he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- was Gerald Simmons sustained as president of Bear River South stake during quarterly conference Sunday at the stake center. Richard Harris and Ward Taylor were sustained as counselors in the presidency. George Smith assumed the duties of stake clerk and Lowell Vance and James Edwards will serve as assistant stake clerks. The Brigham City Community theatre is sponsoring a play writing workshop March 8, 15 and 22, it was announced this week. It will be under the direction of Marvin Moon who received his theatrical training at the Universities of Kansas and Iowa. Moon has delighted audiences in Brigham City for a number of years and will be long remembered for his memorable performances of Fagen in "Oliver, and most recently as the cantankerous old Irishman of Mr. Flannerys Ocean. South stake, Children Listed Patriarch Ficklin is married to the former Arlene Jackson. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They are parents of five sons four are and one daughter living. Dr. Larry Ficklin of Ronald Tremonton, Mrs. (Carole) Cutler of Salt Lake City, George R. of Moody AFB, Ga., Douglas Ficklin and Kent Ficklin, students at BYU in Provo. Their son John died in 1968. They have eight grandchildren. Patriarch Ficklin is a man who is honored by people throughout the valley. He is interested in serving both in the church and professionally. He is a gentle man, a man of character, a man of dignity. Full-lengt- Lakeview Slates Mini-Me- et Lakeview School PTA announced this week that it will encourage all parents of the school to attend the Family Life Conference slated for Thursday, March 1, at Box Elder High school and will postpone their family night until April to avoid a conflict. Instead of the regular March meeting, the PTA will hold a g for the purpose of selecting a nominating the committee and on Thursday, present March 8, at 10 a.m. at the school. The meeting will be a short business session, combined with a room mothers meeting, and will be followed with refreshments.
