The Stage Coach Camp of DUP met at the home of Lucille Shaffer in East Garland Friday evening for their Christmas party. A delicious hot luncheon was served at attractively decorated tables. Captain Helen Marriott gave the lesson Unpublished Recollections of Pioneer Days. Members each recalled their most outstanding Christmas. Mrs. Mabel Oyler was a special guest. Gifts were exchanged. Gale Gibbs of Sparks, Nev. and Mrs. Robert Denny of Spokane, Wash, have arrived to be with their father David Gibbs of Portage who is receiving medical care at the University Medical center in Salt Lake City following surgery. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Leon Farnsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Richards and family and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Abbott and family in Fielding during the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Shane Sullivan and two children of Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris of Portage accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gleed of Malad to Hunter Sunday to attend a family holiday part at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marian Rees. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Madsen of Wendell, Idaho and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Rees of Hunter. A delicious dinner was enjoyed. Gifts were exchanged. Visiting Mrs. Millie Welling in Fielding during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Brown and daughter Jolene of Layton. High Priests and their partners of Bear River Stake held a banquet at the Belmont ward The Tremonton Womens Civic league held their annual Christmas party along with their partners at the Senior center Thursday evening. Party arrangements were made by the club officers LaRene Benon Napoli, Wheatley. Colleen Woodbury, Mildred Harris, Ethel Firth, Vernel Morrison and Barbara Ashby. President Mrs. Napoli had charge of the evenings entertainment. A delicious steak dinner was catered by the Cross Roads cafe and served at gayly decorated tables with a Christmas theme. Mildred Shumway was chairman for the program which was an adaptation of the musical The Fantasticks with Walter Boyden of Provo (who has been a soloist with the Tabernacle choir and who is a faculty member at BYU) and Diane McCowan daughter of Clara McMaster. They were accompanied by Carolyn Cytherd at the piano. Janet Lignell, director and manager accompanied the group. All three ladies are from Salt Lake City. Special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Russell B. Waldron. Door prize went to Don Borup. Background Christmas recordings added to the spirit of Christmas. Open House Mrs. Lina Lamb, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lamb of Plymouth, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Deakin and family of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Owen and family, Opal Garn and Lula Wood of Fielding, Mr.' and Mrs. Dick Owen and son of Riverside, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gardner of Deweyville were among those who attended an open house in the Clarkston Ward Cultural Hall Saturday in compliment to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Thompson who were celebrating their 65th wedding building Saturday anniversary. Attending funeral services for Grover Upton, district for manager the Hanna Davis and Esther Clough. Wood in Garland during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Theron Wood of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Joe B. Holland returned to her home in Tremonton after k visit with a delightful and daughter Mr. her and Mrs. John Adams in Middleton, Ohio. She enjoyed a lovely family dinner party at their home on Thanksgiving Day plus many other dinners and parties given in her honor. She along with her and daughter visited many points of interest in Kentucky which included the cemetery in Frankfurt where Davy Crockett was buried. Visiting C.W. four-wee- son-in-la- w son-in-la- Club Meets The Simada club met with Coila Haltner of Tremonton as hostess Monday evening. Elva Korth gave topics China Under the Rule of the Mongols' and China Under the Ming Dynasty. Katheryne Nesson's The Manchu topic was Dynasty. Light refreshments were served. of Morrison Vernell Tremonton and Alice Peterson of Bear River City were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Holt in Salt Lake City Tuesday. Attending a Beet Growers convention in Billings, Mont, the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Verl Anderson of Fielding. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris returned to their home in Portage Saturday after spending several days with their son Mr. and and daughter-in-laMrs. Phil Harris and family in Salt Lake City. Gwen Elmer graciously entertained members of the Garland Birthday club at her home Wednesday evening. A delicious hot luncheon was enjoyed afterwhich the evening was spent playing bunco. Prizes went to Rose Elmer, sterdam. Tremonton-GarlanThe met at Bowcutts Club Literary d Reception center Wednesday evening with Mae Friday as hostess. Nona Rhead gave an interesting review of Lewis Myers book entitled Mostly Mam. Rose Mary Newman was a special guest. Dainty refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Marriott of Garland and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bronson of Plymouth attended funeral services in the Malad First Ward chapel Monday for Mrs. Marriotts sister, Blanche Pett. Dinner guests of Mrs. E.W. Sutherland in Fielding Saturday evening under the direction of DeLos Jensen of Riverside. The food was prepared and served by the Belmont Relief Society under the supervision of Mrs. Max Ward. A musical program along with readings was presented by r Ralph Carter and daughters Debbie and Michelle and son BarryDeLos Jensen also gave a short reading. Widows of former High Priests were special guests. Over two hundred attended. Mrs. Lovinnie Holt of Fielding spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stokes and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Whitney and family in Ogden. Medical Care Mrs. Mildred Last of Garland has been receiving medical care at the Cooley Memorial hospital in Brigham City. Visiting her Saturday was her daughter Mrs. Jerald Castleton of Centerville. President and Mrs. DeVere Harris of Portage hosted a dinner party for the Malad Stake presidency and the high councilmen and their partners at the National Public Insurance office in Logan Wednesday evening after the group had enjoyed a session at the Logan LDS temple. During the evening Myron Sorenson told the high lights of his recent tour around the world. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Kupfer in Bothwell Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kilfoyle and family of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. David Kilfoyle and baby of Bothwell. Arriving from Los Angeles to spend a week visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Eberhard in Bothwell is their daughter Mrs. Janice Holdstock and son Craig. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Harris and Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Harris of Portage attended a holiday family party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harris in Kaysville. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Nielsen of Riverton; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Harris of Logan ; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Harris of Layton. It was the first time the entire family had been together for eight years. The evening was spent playing tapes and looking at films. Sharon Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Anderson of Bothwell who is attending Weber State College had the misfortune of falling on the Weber campus and received a hairline fracture. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Had-fiel- d and children of Boise have been spending a few days visiting Mrs. Hadfields mother Mrs. Erma Summers in Bothwell. Mrs. Wynn John of Portage accompanied her parents Mr. and Mrs. John J. Williams and her sister Mrs. Gerald Williams of Malad to Salt Lake City Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell of Garland attended a IEA Christmas dinner-danc- e party held at the Willow Creek Country club in Salt Lake City Tuesday evening. Thursday the two couples along with Mr. and Mrs. DeVerl Payne, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Payne and Mr. and Mrs. Verl by Mrs. Irving Christensen Anderson of Tremonton rat- tended a Christmas party given by the Ogden IEA chapter held at the Weber State college. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were special guests at a Christmas IEA party given by the southern division held in the Elks lodge in Provo. Emil Kupfer of Bothwell has been receiving medical care in the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Limb and family in Garland Saturday were Mr. and Mrs., John A. Evans of Malad. Weekend Visitors Visitors during the weekend at the home of Mrs. Beatrice Wright in Garland were Mr. and Mrs. J. Fred Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Vincent and four children of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Anderson of Provo. Boyd and Kay Waldron Firth of Tremonton proudly announce the arrival of their first son born Dec. 10 at the Cooley Memorial hospital in Brigham City. They have three girls at home. Happy grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Waldron of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Firth of Bothwell. Great grandparents are Jennie Firth and George Payne of Bothwell. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Worley in were their Tremonton daughters Janet Worley of Sunset and Marsha Worley, a student at Weber State college. Other Sunday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hull of North SUNDAY A homecomi- ng is planned Sunday for Elder Robin Henrie. Brigham Elder Returns Elder Robin Lund Henrie recently returned from the Brazil North LDS mission and a homecoming testimonial is planned Sunday, Dec. 17 in the Brigham City Eighth ward at 4:30 p.m. Elder Henrie is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irven L. Henrie, 344 North Second East. He served as district leader and zone leader and mission secretary. Elder Henrie labored in Rio De Janeiro, Recife, and Goiania. He is a 1970 graduate of Box Elder High school and plans to attend Weber State college winter quarter. Bishop Frank W. Forsgren invites all friends, relatives and neighbors to attend the homecoming. Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Clint Judkins of Tremonton had as their Sunday guests Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Judkins and son Billy of Layton. Mr. and Mrs. Clint Judkins were guest speakers in the Sixth ward Tremonton sacrament meeting Sunday evening. The VGF club of Tremonton met with Eva Green as hostess Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith of Fielding and Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Cornwall of Tremonton attended a Thiokol Christmas party held at the Eagle building in Brigham City Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fitzpatrick have left for their home in Kennewick, Wash, after visiting Mr. and Mrs. O.I. Garfield in Tremonton and other relatives in Utah. The Ladies Legislative council of Box Elder county held their annual Christmas dinner party at the Red Baron in Brigham City Wednesday evening. Attending from this area were Mildred Shumway, Vera Yolanda Allen, Westergard, Ruth Shumway and Karen Busenbark. Dr. Phyllis Snow of USU was the guest speaker and chose as her subject Equal Rights Amendments. Mr. and Mrs. John McClellan of Fielding joined Mrs. McClellans mother Mrs. Arno Liebelt of American Fork for a dinner party in Salt Lake City during the week. Visits Chapter Raymond Timothy, Utah of FFA state visited the Uintah chapter in Vernal, the Roosevelt chapter in Roosevelt, the Moon Lake chapter in Atlamont last week. He was accompanied by his mother Mrs. Glade Timothy of Garland. They were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Berrett in Roosevelt and also visited Mr. and Mrs. J. Arthur Timothy in Altonah and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jessen in Mountain Home. Raymond is attending USU in Logan. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glade Timothy in Garland were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Timothy of Ogden, Beverly Timothy, RoseMary Marshall and Jaunita Gailey students at Weber State college. Recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stark in Bothwell were their and daughter Dr. and Mrs. Glen Baugh and son Craig of Woodland Hills, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Stark are happy over the arrival of their first great grandchild, a boy, born to Mr. and Mrs. David Hall in Por- sori-in-la- Shauna Lewis recently flew to Fresno, Calif, and spent a week visiting a friend Bette Jo Reddin. During her stay she visited Fresno Service center and saw many people who had transferred from Ogden Service center. She went Christmas shopping and attended a party the people in BetteJos branch were having. While waiting for her flight in San Francisco on her way home she called a cousin Barney Logan in Redwood City and Glade another cousin, Goodliffe, in Walnut Creek. She had a very enjoyable trip. In Hospital Mrs. Lois Ward spent three days last week in the University hospital in Salt Lake City. Eighteen members and two visitors attended the DUP meeting and Christmas party held at the beautiful decorated home of Mrs. Della Christensen last Friday afternoon. Christmas carols were sung and the lesson Pioneer Christmases was given by Mrs. Lula Clayson. Refreshments were served by Della and Elvira Christensen and Ruby Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. John Udy entertained at a birthday dinner Friday evening for their son Kevin on his eleventh birthday. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Agricola from Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Jed Crandall from Roy. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Munns and Mr. and Mrs. Delwin Hansen attended the Box Elder North Stake Board Relief Society Christmas party Friday night at Maddox Ranch House. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Hansen and daughters Shelly, Becky and Karolee from Mesa, Wash, visited with the Leland on Monday of last week then went to Salt Lake City on Tuesday and attended the marriage of their son Neil in the Salt Lake Temple on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Anderson and Suzanne Bowcutt joined them in Orem that evening for a reception for the returned newlywedsH,They Elder Larry Bigler recently returned from an LDS mission. RETURNS home late that night and the Hansens left for home early Thursday morning. A homecoming testimonial is planned Sunday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Mantua ward for Elder Larry L. Bigler, who recently returned from the Germany Central mission. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bigler, Mantua. Elder Bigler was a district leader. in He labored and Paderborn, Hagen, Soest, and several other smaller cities. Duesseldof is the mission headquarters for that area. He plans to attend Brigham Young university starting winter quarter. He is a graduate of Box Elder High school. Upon arriving the guests were immediately involved in a game while enjoying punch and appetizers at a special table. and Richard Ann Merrill of the BYU visited with Mary their grandmother Mary Anderson on Saturday ternoon. S. af- Mr. and Mrs. Howard Reynolds from Twin Falls, Idaho called to see his sister on Mrs. Leslie Jensen Thanksgiving day. After having dinner they invited Gertrude to go visiting relatives with them. They spent Thursday night in Salt Lake City, went to Springville on Friday and visited their aunt Ella Reynolds who is 97 years old and called on other relatives then on to Price on Saturday to visit their brother The long tables were beautifully decorated and a turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served to approximately 50 people after which snow men were given as door prizes. Paul Holmgren attended the Beet Growers convention at Billings Mont, last week. Elmer Mortensen entered the McKay hospital ast Wednesday and had eye surgery on Thursday. He came home Sunday and is reported to be recovering nicely. Mrs. Lavon Dallin received a telephone call Sunday night from her son Terry telling her he had just been sustained first counselor in the bishopric in his ward in The Dalles, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Holmgren attended the E.A. Miller meat plant Christmas party at the U.S. in Logan last Friday night. Mrs. Elvira Christensen spent the past week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Steven Tolman of Roy and Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Harris in Ogden. They all enjoyed "Christmas Around the World presented by BYU International Dancers and sponsored by the McKay-De- e Foundation held in the Fine ARTS auditorium of Weber State college. They also attended concerts and recitals of the Associated Students and music department of WSC which was the Christmas portion of Handels Messiah also presented in the Fine Arts auditorium.
