Show 14 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah WESTERN FAM Thursday, August 27, 1970 FRUIT Dove Season To Open On Tuesday 303 SIZE Hunters will start the bird seasons out with one of the toughest of all game birds to bag, with the Sept. 1 opening of the Mourning Dove season. Good shooting is expected for 30,000 hunters who will open the season at6:24a.m. on this sporty migratory bird. Last years record harvest of 279,000 birds will be difficult to beat, although those who are able to get some shooting in the early part of the season should enjoy good success toward the limit of 10 birds a day. As with all migratory birds, shooting hours will be one half hour before sunrise to sunset and shotguns must be plugged so it will not hold more than a total of three shells. The Division of Fish and Game Law Enforcement officers will be checking carefully for licenses, plugs in guns, and to be sure hunters do not attempt to take birds as they rest on power lines, phone lines, or poles. Most of the hunting for doves will be dry open range land areas, and hunters are requested to observe good conduct and respect the property where they are hunting. Godfrey, 431 South Fourth West, has completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Tex. He has been assigned to Sheppard AFB, Tex., for training in aircraft maintenance. Airman Godfrey is a 1968 graduate of Box Elder High school. His wife is the former Olivia Minjarez of 12516 Kingerman, El Monte, Calif. Soda Pop, Machine Cash Thieves broke into the Lakevlew Elementary school twice during the past week and got away with soda pop and an undetermined amount of vending machine money. Custodian Merlin Larsen said he discovered a break-i- n Friday, Aug. 21 and thieves broke a skylight door and stole two cases of soda pop. When he entered the school he Tuesday morning discovered the skylight door broken again plus the door to the teacher's room broken. Further investigation revealed more soda pop missing along with money missing from the machine, he said.
