Show BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Set for Missionary Elder Stephen K. Hailing has recently returned home after serving in the LDS Central American mission. Elder Hailing will be honored at a homecoming testimonial to be held Sunday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. in the LDS Third ward chapel with Bishop Frank Lloyd Gunther presiding. He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hailing, 54 North Third West, Brigham City. Bishop Gunther Invites all friends and relatives to attend the testimonial where Elder Hailing will report on his experiences in the mission field. Elder RETURNS Stephen K. Hailing has recently returned from serving an LDS mission in Central America. Corinne Comments 'Art of Quilting' By Gertrude Moore Family gatherings and reunions are the main items in this weeks news. Visitors at the home of Laron and Bernice Anderson the past week have been their son Darrell Anderson, his wife Delsa and children, Brian and Martha. The Andersons traveled to Utah from their home in Homedale, Calif., to visit relatives here and in Idaho. They were accompanied by Ginger Anderson of Roy. A family get together was enjoyed at the Anderson home during the visitors stay there. Those who came were, Mr. and Mrs. Max Anderson and children, David, Janeen, Connie and Dennis of Pleasant View, Mr. and Mrs. John (Mary Ann) Clifton of Honeyville; Mrs. Gay Nelson and children, Kearston and KayCee of Brigham City and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Michelli and family. Visiting with the Laron Andersons on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Simonsen and Mrs. Gay Nelson and children all of Brigham City. They spent a pleasant afternoon of reminiscing. The group were also visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Mclntire on that day. Laketown Visit Howard and Jessie Eller and children Charlene and Jayneann, Gene and Diane Neilson and children, Wesley and Christie, motored to Laketown on Saturday. They went there to attend the Jasper Kearl family reunion held in Cottonwood canyon. Elaine Shinkel, daughter of Mrs. LaRaine Shinkle accompanied them to the family gathering. Keith and Preal Shinkle and children, Linda and Joe returned on Sunday evening from a funfilled ten day vacation trip to Wyoming. They were accompanied by Vern Mangum, Seth Peirce and Larry Mangum of Brigham City. The group traveled by car and pickup truck with their house trailer, motor bikes and boats. They traveled first to the Gros Venture river to fish, camp and swim. The group spent five days there with the fishing reported as being "great. Side trips by motor bike provided the group with excursions into the "back country. They found there a supply of wild strawberries, and raspberries Some huckleberries. in- teresting scenery was also enjoyed by the group. The group traveled next to Astoria, where they enjoyed the swimming and fishing in the "icy hot" springs at the resort. Joining the group during their five day stay there were Gene and Jeanie Shinkle and children, Bobby, Dave, Steve and Mark. Family Reunion The direct descendants of Gustave Anderson held a family reunion on Aug. 9. The affair was held in the Oak Lawn park at North Ogden. There were 104 members of the family who gathered there to enjoy dinner, a program and a day spent in pleasant reminiscing. Attending from here were Laron and Bernice Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Jeppesen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Anderson, their son Bob and his fiancee Brenda Bingham, Joe Michelli and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Anderson and children, who were visiting here from California. A program and dinner was enjoyed by the large group who attended. A special number by the girls of the immediate family was sung during the program. "When You and I Were Young Maggie," was the family favorite sung by the group. The secretary of the family organization is Mrs. LaRaine Jeppesen. She was in charge of the invitations and reported the number of family members who attended. Lloyde and Donna Hubbard and family spent a recent weekend at Bear Lake. They joined a group of ski instructors from the Beaver mountain ski resort in Logan canyon. The affair was an outing for the instructors there, their wives and families. They enjoyed boating, water skiing and swimming during their stay at the resort. The Lloyde Hubbards traveled to New Mexico last weekend. They drove their pick-u- p with camper to make the trip to Farmington. They picked up an Indian boy, Jasper Nopah, who makes his home with the Hubbards during the school year. The other children from that region had arrived by bus last week. The Hubbards left on Friday, returning home on Sunday morning. Saturday Outing There were about 150 members of both wards who attended the outing at Lagoon last Saturday. The families joined other members of the North Box Elder stake at the resort. Rides at reduced that day to help celebrate the occasion. The occasion honored the birthday of JoAnn Morrill. She was presented a lovely gift by the hostess for the evening, Gertrude Moore. A family was held Sunday Aug. 16, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Anderson in West Corinne. A dinner was enjoyed in the afternoon by the following: Mr. and Mrs. Lloyde (Donna) Hubbard and family, Mr. and Mrs. Claude (LaRaine) Jeppesen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Anderson and two daughters from Logan, Robert Anderson and his fiancee, Brenda of Bingham Honeyville and Mrs. Margaret Hatch. ( The Everette Anderson family gathered at their home on Friday evening, Aug. 21. They came to honor their mother Margarets birthday. The occasion was also a farewell gathering for Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Anderson and family. They are leaving to make their home in Boulder, Colo., where Alvin will be stationed with the U.S. Air Force. He was been comsecond a missioned Lieutenant after completing his ROTC training at Utah State university in Logan. Fall Victim fashioned quilting bee was held at the home of Mrs. Lois Nelson at which time members of the Perry LDS ward and Perry Second LDS ward Mia Maid classes learned the art of quilting. A quilt top had been painted by members of the class then they enjoyed completing the quilt by learning to quilt. The girls then took the quilt and donated It to the Primary Childrens hospital in Salt Lake City. Farm Bureau Schedules Corinne Meet hopeful-candidate- born to Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Young on March 22, Ogden. This is the first child for Gregory and Connie and the first grandchild for Earl and Eva. A weekend visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Young has been Miss Joanne Poppe of Portland, Oregon. Miss Poppe visited at the Young home with their daughter, Kathy and now she will travel to Phoenix, Ariz. with Kathy where both are teachers at Central High in Phoenix.
