Janet was the delegate representing the state of Utah at this forum. The forum was 4-- H 4-- held to train leaders from the states to help train future leaders and present leaders on how to organize, run, and complete horse projects for youth. The leaders learned how to successfully horse camp, how to put on a make western clothes from using regular patterns, how to correctly judge horses (judging clinic), (horse bowl), among other workshops. The leaders also spent some time touring the capitol, Smithsonian Institute, Hall of Jus4-- 4-- y tice and Library of Congress helping the leaders learn how our government is operated. The leaders took two field trips to the Mounted Park Patrol and saw how they trained horses for police work to use for riot control, and one to a military installation to show they use and train horses for high military funerals. The leaders attended the International Horse Show and then the leaders shared ideas with each other on what things they did as horse leaders as county and state lead- to encourage them to influence their representatives to help spend money in their state on horses and horse programs. A representative from the American Horse Council spoke to the group on how they lobby and get money appropriated for various horse industries. They were urged to seek sponsors for the scholarship program so that more youth can win scholarships to further their education. Janet was very enthused about the program and is going to organize a group and put on their own horse show and wants to invite our state representatives to attend and accompany the group on a trail ride so they can see what the horse program does for youth. She is anxious to get the horse group going in Tooele County so that the youth can hold their own competitions to go to the Area and State competitions. She is also excited about starting a horse judging and horse bowl team and these members do not need to own horses. "If you are interested in joining ofa horse club, call the fice so that we can get this group organized right away, states 882-600- 1 ere Back Again With a BIG CHRISTMAS KIDDIE SHOW RITZ THEATRE Sat., Dec. 4th Two Matinees Only 1:00 p.m., 3:00 All p.m. Seats Only 2.00 4-- 2 Hours of Movies & Fun!
